I think the question was what date did they switch over at the factory? I don't know that we know. I would assume it has not been done. Symptom is that HV range will be unrealistically high, like 500+ miles if you drive on EV a lot.

Has anyone noticed that after the software update for the HV range, their EV range has decreased by a few miles? I'm not talking about how far you can actually drive on a full charge, but rather what the numerical EV gauge is predicting. I had been routinely getting a predicted range of about 55-57, and after the software update I'm seeing more like 53 in the same kind of weather & temps. It's a small difference but it does seem to have changed post-software update.

I took my clarity in today for the update. The HV range is still reading 482. The sales rep said I have to drive it around a bit to reset the range estimate. Has anyone had it persistently elevated after the update?

No, it should read 357 after the update on a full tank.

Nope. Mine too went instantly to 357 after update with a full tank. And after a 500 mile HV trip at 49 mpg, mine is reading 321 now which divided by 7 is 46 mpg so all looks OK.

Is there a way to check if the dealer actually installed the update? It is still reading 490...

Wow.... much higher than rated. And a nice change from my 2008 Honda Fit which only gets about 35 on the highway, 28 in the city.

Does this also fix the problem with the EV being too high. I just returned from a trip in the mountains where I ran mostly in HV. On my return, I switched HV off and did the last 25 mile which was mostly downhill and gained about 15 miles of EV. After I charged the car that night, the EV miles showed 82.5 which I know is wrong.

Just picked up my Clarity last week here in Canada. My HV range shows the equivalent of 351 miles (565km). So not sure if mine was fixed at factory as I have noticed some other people in Canada trying to get the software update.

Nobody is reporting any EV range estimate problems that I know of. Your erroneously high EV is probably due to that long downhill on your last trip which the algorithm used to calculate what it expects your next trip to be like. I wouldn’t worry unless after a “normal” trip, it doesn’t come back down to a believable range.

I hope you're right, as I haven't received mine yet. But I think some people have reported that this glitch sometimes doesn't appear until after 3000km or so.

Ken, I wasn't even worried about the HV range problem but I just got it fixed. I was just reporting that there is still a problem with the EV range estimate when you spend some time driving in HV mode and especially if there is a long downhill part of your trip.

    Understood, bpratt.
But I think your higher EV was due to your long downhill and not the time spent in HV vs EV. On my only 2 HB trips, my EV range estimate did not change.

How is your range going as you driving the car more? I picked mine up today with full tank of gas and full charge, and it showed a range of 691 km (431 miles) which doesn't seem right but isn't as crazy as those getting 1000+ mile ranges on their display.

The erroneouly high HV range estimate shows up more and more whenever you put gas in. The only way it will go down without having the update installed is to drive exclusively in HV with no EV for several trips but it will go back up as soon as you drive in EV for a while. The update is the only permanent fix for it.

I got mine done this week, and so far all is good! I refilled the gas tank on my way to the dealer, but I only ended up in the 356 mile club, not 357 for some reason. Maybe I should have topped off the tank?

EV range reported much lower than usual for the first couple of days (I'm guessing the EV range history was reset as well), but it is recovering nicely.

I got the fix done yesterday. It shows 327 I think but I didn't have a full tank. I'm so excited that it works now! I'm going on vacation where I'll out 1000 miles on the car, mostly gas, so it'll be nice to be able to use the HV range.

My dealer says this fix does not apply to my Clarity and that is has the latest software. Autonation Honda in Knoxville TN.

    Hi Jarome,

I'm also in Knoxville, and I'm sitting in the Rusty Wallace Honda waiting room right now waiting for my A01 service, HV mileage fix, and body plug installation. I'll let you know how it works.

After topping up my tank (added 9 litres) last week for the first time in a month (drove 2150 kms virtually all electric!) my gas range jumped to 1901 km!! Clearly my car does not have the range fix applied to it yet ... I will try to get that when I take the car in for its first servicing in a couple of months - note that a while back someone posted that the bulletin for this fix in Canada is number J-20-18.
