What has everyone used for a trailer hitch assembly besides the expensive Hyundai one . I'm in Canada...Something I can install thanks in advance
I don't use one as Hyundai does not rate the Kona EV for trailer hauling. There has been some dealers that have installed them. Would guess that wouldn't void the warrantee. There is a nice article about a European person who shared his story. Tow Story: Hauling a camper trailer with an electric Kona (thedriven.io)
Here is an extensive blog (hitch installation including wiring ) from a forum member/owner not far from my location. Note he did have to change the controller (see at the end) but has had good luck with it since: https://www.chrisalemany.ca/2020/06/14/installing-a-hitch-and-wiring-harness-into-a-2019-hyundai-kona-electric/ This positive follow up post after the controller change: https://insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/installing-a-trailer-hitch.5084/page-7#post-107542

Hyundai statement. Most of the electric Konas with a 150 kW motor, that we have in stock already have an approved option. The manufacturer has approved the towing of a trailer with a maximum permissible mass of 300 kg and a permissible vertical load per ball of 100 kg (this is important for the transport of wheels on a towbar). Versions with a 100 kW engine are still not allowed to tow a trailer and will not be allowed in the future.
