Why wouldn't Tesla bring all it vehicles to the tracking including the Semi? Assuming the track will accommodate it and there wouldn't be worries about damage to the track.

    Jalopnic and more Taycan spin
A particularly stupid Jalopnic columnist is trying to say Tesla is aiming to set a hyper specific record to avoid competing by talking about 7 seats. This is utter nonsense. The current S already for much, much less money goes a lot further, is much more efficient, has higher power to weight ratio and is lighter and is quicker 0-60, 1/4 mile and top speed (but you have to wonder if Porsche didn't hold back on top speed) with a simpler likely to be more reliable design (even as electrics are radically more reliable than ICE) that also happens to hold a lot more people and cargo. Current S has update that makes it seem quite capable of beating the Taycan around Nurburing or at Laguna but the next gen which is a year out surely has what it needs as the result at Laguna already strong hints. Tesla already demonstrated the stamina of that platform more than a year ago. The S version of the plaid tech will clearly be cheaper than the Taycan. The Taycan is Roadster priced and the Roadster already stomps the Taycan stats and that of every other production car.

VW head on competing with Tesla
Note the Taycan is more an electric Panamera than an electric 911, it is more an S competitor at a much higher price and without the self driving tech and it not as threatening as it could be to Porsche's ICE line up, but Tesla will take care of that. The VW CEO was saying he didn't see Tesla as competition because of VW's scale. He is mistaken, Tesla is huge competition because it is setting the bar at a place where VW can't go, a place the planet and the people on the planet need even for basic political reasons, Tesla is set to covert a coming decade or more of VW sales into hold offs and recycled used cars and Tesla sales. People who couldn't afford iPhone didn't settle for Blackberry and people who could didn't buy Blackberry even if they had to wait. Tesla will run "winner take all" on VW/Porsche if that group doesn't hurry it up. And right now while its done better than GM and its compliance crap and its lies it needs to do better, it needs to offer equal value/ performance/tech because just matching Tesla gives people a choice between a mission driven company that is working for their best interests and a convicted in the court of public opinion corporate criminal- criminal in the way that bring up the atrocities of WWII- think about the criminal idiot things the Mercedes CEO just said about diesel today- there is no rational reason to buy EV etc and more diesel is a good thing... So good for VW and Porsche but they have to do better, they may be able to tie, but they can't afford to lose the race and even coming out a little ahead if they can manage it is only tying, not winning.

And lets just ask this question. If we had a time machine and went back to the VW corporate head quarters in 2012 and asked the execs if they though it was remotely possible that an American company would actually be an auto bench mark in 7 years given America's stupid culture of parasitic rent seeking excuses for enterprises the answer would probably be that it was almost impossible and certainly unthinkable. Where will be even in 2023, the S curve is starting and the trend is only accelerating?
