Taycan Turbo S has 1050nm compared to the base Tesla Roadster's 10,000nm for about the same price. Want a car with 1/10th the power and 41% of the range for the and with fractional specs in almost every other regard? Another thing the Roadster based on the way charging works against a vastly greater range will charge much quicker on a miles per minute basis than a Taycan- with Roadster on V3 charger and much faster still if it can use Mega charger. And Tesla demonstrated the roadsters ability to accelerate over and over and over again with people in the car all night long with this kind of power.

This is the ICE makes best shot so far at claiming Tesla has no clothes despite the sales and Tesla outselling Porsche globally and having higher prestige and brand good will. Here Porsche shows they are still at least 5 years behind despite starting more than 5 years ago- the Taycans are like Tesla products form 2015 or worse that were kept in the garage to be sold at hugely inflated prices now. Meanwhile Tesla is doing its own battery cells and apparently buying real estate with raw material stocks and taking up the prime charger locations.

Why get at Taycan Turbo when you could have a Model 3 Performance for about 1/3 the price?

The goal I still think by the ICE makers is to try to run Tesla out but given Tesla's China path it seems unlikely and this despite the pact with CA that angered the corrupt admin- imagine thinking one could retaliate against people trying to do the right thing on climate with trumped up charges.

Model 3 Performance vs Taycan Turbo

    0-60 3.2 vs 3.0 (6% advantage Porsche)
    1/4 11.67 vs 11.1 (%5 percent advantage Porsche)
    Top Speed 162 vs 161 (.6% advantage M3P)
    Range 500 km vs 372 (34% advantage M3P)
Torque 639 nm vs 850 nm (%33 advantage Porsche)
Weight 4072 lbs vs 5100 lbs (1027 lbs advantage Model 3- 25% advantage to M3P)
Safety Porsche is likely not as safe (going electric likely won't have Porsche remotely catching up)
Efficiency Porsche is less efficient advantage M3P
Prestige Less prestige in a real sense even as MP3 becomes prosaic- because supporting ICE makers says you're stupid- and that's backed up by VW's deal with Shell not to put pressure on loser gas prices (will never be competitive) by not passing along savings at charging. And how much of Porsche's charging infrastructure will come from NG? Nothing like saying I am rich but stupid- makes you a mark.
    COST $55990 vs $152,250 (271% advantage Tesla)
Braking Advantage on braking force is surely with Porsche but its missing one pedal breaking
Charging, miles per minute won't be much better than Model 3P on V.3 SC and charging at home on Tesla is likely better and the super charger network is orders of magnitude better as are the terms and costs- and Porsche charging connectors are clunky- they don't want to do anything makes gas look old.
Reliability- the advantage has to be with Tesla given greater experience, much less complexity and much less legacy parts bin carry over- no 2 speed transmission no prismatic cells almost no switches. Porsches dealer network likely insisted on a bunch of weakness being built into the design so it can rip people off with costly unnecessary services.

Interior space- Porsche has been hiding this but people who have checked it have said its closer to the Model 3 and on frunk + trunk its about the same if you included the under trunk space of Model 3 but Taycan's rear seat doesn't fold down.
Interior- too many switches and gimmicks on Porsche
Audio- may be good but Tesla has benchmark system in Model 3
Seats in MP3 may be better- may people say the best ever
Climate control- likely better in MP3
Driver assist- radically better in MP3- VW and Porsche don't get it, yes it may be a driver's car but comfort matters and autonomy level driver assist makes things much safer when you need it.
Steering/Handling Model 3 is just straight up better than the new BMW 3 series 'ultimate driving machine' in pretty much every way and this shows in sales where Tesla can fill demand like in CA, so even if the Porsche has an edge here (and it may not given things like missing 1 pedal driving) it likely won't be by much and its a much heavier car.

MP3 is like better in 15 areas and very close in 6 and this will only solidify people's opinions about Tesla as the best automaker period.

Porsche's ICE prices have been utterly squashed by Tesla like a fire sale. You can look at what Telsa has done to the Prius, there are lots of lies from shill pubs and accounting games but Tesla has hammered the sht out of BMW and Porsche as well. It is funny that an electric is now the highest priced Porsche on the Porsche front website page. Porsche'
s association with recalcitrant criminality and 33 billion in fine fines and counting as the scandals continue hasn't helped- people see Porsche as VW.

Styling: The more I think about it I don't like the styling on the Porsche that much. I don't like the nose or the back or the profile but a lot of people will. I don't like the clock or the screens everywhere approach. About all I like is the front gauge cluster- in the all electric curved glass but not enough to want to see it duplicated elsewhere.

Porsche's inclusion of what amounts to a transmission seems stupid, it is surely part of what bloated the weight. Tesla abandoned that approach a long time ago, you just improve the electric motor, improve cooling and then just add ultra caps- you don't add what amounts to a gear box. Porsche stupidly includes a front radiator (idiotic that it has to have an open front nose- shows they still don't know what they are doing and they doing parts bin stuff and that hurts aero.)- radiator fluid leaks and kills the car type of stuff. Prismatic cells don't help either.

My guess is Porsche is trying to block Tesla at Nurburing because it wants to get out all its paid shill reviews before Tesla stomps it at Nurburing. The actual top spec Taycan has stats like the 5 year old Tesla Model S, but against a newer S, its slower (0-60,1/4, Top Speed) has a lot less range, costs about double and doesn't include the assistance tech, and is also heavier and substantially less efficient and gets stomped on interior room.

What we have here is Porsche seeming to aim the Taycan Turbo at the Model 3 Performance and the Taycan Turbo S at the Model S. I don't think they succeed in either case. Including a transmission and a radiator and an open front grill and no folding seats and calling it turbo and including faux engine sounds and putting a bunch of gimmicky switch gear, having the interior be too smallish against the Model S and being way way off on cost. Suspect they had to include the gimmick motor sounds not to appease people who want black berry cues on their iphones but to hide transmission whine and other noise.

Overall its very good that arguably the top premium ICE make (Ferrari competes) now has its top volume model as an electric and it shows in the price. Thank you Porsche- but you're going to have to do a lot better to catch Tesla and keep it from taking your market share at will.
