We sold our 2019 Touring today to the local Honda dealer for $20K. It was a painless process. They even provided the paperwork to terminate the HondaCare service plan and we’ll be getting a little over $600 back from the premium of $1050 or so. Our net cost to purchase the car new, after a Honda discount, Fed Credit and State Rebate, was $23,500. Depreciation loss was $3500 over a 54 month period. Of course, $20K won’t buy what it would have 54 months ago either. I’d ballpark about 30K miles of the 38K total were covered on electricity. Given our electricity rates and gas prices the cost to drive those miles on electricity was roughly $2000 less than if we’d bought 750 gallons of gas. Farewell.
Your wealth of knowledge will be missed, godspeed! I've pondered selling/trading the car but my son and wife have managed to add a few dings/scratches that they'd probably rake me over the coals for so at this point with 85k I plan to keep for at least a few more years.
