Just wondering where you read that it is now $6500? So when I tell dealer the incentive has increased I have some substance. I’ve only been able to find $4500 incentive. Thanks

You can see through COSTCO if you have COSTCO Membership

I actually do have Costco. Did you just make an inquiry through their car buying service? Thanks

NO, I see the price at Dealer's website. I just login to COSTCO to check the rebate.

    September 21, 2020 - Southern California.

I contacted the dealer on a whim to trade in my 2019 Clarity for a 2020 Clarity. The quoted OTD price was about $29600, which was lower than the price I got my 2019 Clarity. They were able to match the Carvana trade-in price of $21700 after some haggling. In all, I spent about $7900 out of pocket for the transaction. With the $7500 federal tax rebate and $1000 SCE rebate, I should be making about $500 profit from selling my old car.

So you could say you sent $7900 for the period of almost 2 years that you owned the car? I’m assuming you purchased the base model?
    Thanks

Yes, I bought the base model.

I bought the 2019 model in 2019 for about $30.2k. Received $8500 rebate from federal taxes and utility company.

I bought the 2020 model for $29.6k, traded in the 2019 for $21.7k. I expect to also receive $8500 rebate from federal taxes and utility company.

Total spent: $59.8k, total received: $38.7k. Net spend: $21.1.

That $21.1k spent is without the potential $7500x2 tax credits right? If you calculate $21k over 24months that like a $875 lease so to speak. Unless I’m missing something here.
    Thanks

The $21.1k net spend is after taking into account both the tax credit and rebates. I had the 2019 model for 9 months.

I'm not leasing the car. I bought it. The net cost for using the 2019 model car was essentially 0.

Got it the tax credit washes out your initial ownership got the 9 month period. Not bad. Is that with all tax cost calculated?

Yes, all prices are OTD price after taxes and registration.

Good stuff man. I’m trying to hold out for the end of year deals. I want to pay $10k less than MsRp plus fees for a touring. I’m almost there.

I bought my car last year at the end of the year. The deal wasn't as great compared to now. I think September-October is the best time for deals.

Deal depends a lot on Rebate from HONDA. Like last year they have $6500 going now, if it remains till end of year, you will get better deal. But if not this is the best time to get this price.

Going into the shop on Thursday because something in the undercarriage is flapping when I hit 40 mph. Maybe I'll just leave the car there.

I have a 2018 Touring with 31,000 miles. KBB trade-in value is about $4k over what I owe at this point. Could easily do a no new cash, get out for < 30K on a trade-in. Sooo tempting. :)

I just received a quote for a 2020 Clarity touring for $28,300 with a few dealer installed options. About $11k off using Costco buying service.

  21. Last year the Honda incentive started at $6K, dropped to $5K, then to $4K. It was then scheduled to end but was continued for another month or so.

Some folks have recently reported getting $8-9K off MSRP. If history were to repeat, the current discounts may diminish as more 2020’s are sold. Holding out for $10K off ($27K) could result in missing the boat.

They are available now. Was just quoted ~$11k off here on SoCal. They have about $1800 in dealer add-ons so about ~$9k off

You mentioned the quote: "2020 Clarity touring for $28,300"

Does it mean it was priced at $39xxx with Dealer AddOn?
