First hybrid for us. Clarity is a perfect transitional car to EV without range anxiety. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Camry Hybrid was our first. Fusion Hybrid was second. Infiniti Q50 hybrid was our third. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
2008 Prius, then 2015 Prius. Ordered solar for the roof, then went in search of a PHEV. All had too short of EV arrange until I discovered the Clarity.
Clarity is our first hybrid. Can you guess, without looking it up, who invented the first hybrid and what decade? Here is a clue. Sent from my SM-G955U using Inside EVs mobile app
First 2000 Insight delivered in the midwest (sold in 2007); current hybrids: 2006 Insight (one of the last gen-1s), 2010 Insight (first in town), 2018 Clarity Plug-In Hybrid (first in town).
I don't know what your picture is, but its not the first hybrid from what I found. Here is a story from Hemmings on the 1896 Armstrong Phaeton. Has a nice video of it going. Built in Bridgeport, CT. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2016/03/14/perhaps-the-worlds-first-hybrid-an-1896-armstrong-sells-for-483400-at-amelia-island/
Ahh now I found yours, a later hybrid from Porsche. And it could also claim to be the first because they actually manufactured more than one of them, unlike the one of a kind Armstrong.
2012 Honda CRZ 6spd and a lemon 2016 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The manual transmission on the CRZ made the lack of power a bit more bearable.
The last stick-shift hybrid ever. If it would have been faster or offered Insight-like fuel economy, I would have replaced my gen-1 5-speed Insight with a CR-Z. If only Honda had made their electric 4-motor, 4WD CR-Z prototype into a real car!
2003 civic hybrid, 2013 CMax Energi, 2018 Clarity. Smattering of Honda Accord's in between. Daughter still drives 2007 fit with 55,000 mi.
2008 Prius, 2012 Lincoln MKZ hybrid ( loved it ) Now 2018 Clarity, overall just as nice as MKZ. MKZ had Microsoft SYNC system I hated it Clarity not perfect but much better. I miss the 625 - 675 miles on fill-up with MKZ. 16-17 gals.
Let’s be clear that our wonderfully ridding and efficient Claritys are PLUG IN hybrids not hybrids. There’s a big difference.
My first was 2010 camry hybrid. Loved it! Then the clarity. Imho the clarity is a hybrid because it is capable using both gas an electric in tandem just like my camry hybrid. But since it also has significant ev capability it is a different class of hybrid....hence the name phev
It doesn't have to be plugged in to operate so yes it is a hybrid. PHEV=Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. There are some folks who buy a PHEV just to get HOV access and never plug it in (for various reasons).
Mea culpa. Thought my Clarity was a hybrid. Will remove all those hybrid badges so I don't make that mistake again.
