No Insideevs... Lucid has not proven its numbers

    Warren Redlich did a good job of showing why we should be very skeptical of Lucid.

    The bigger issue is the subtext which is not at all about healthy EV competition. It is about the sought after fossil fuel talking point of no Tesla secret sauce along the lines of: its become clear any two bit vaporous start up can achieve what Tesla has and help starve Tesla for capital so big ICE's placation campaign is succeeding and will succeed completely soon enough so you can forget about addressing climate change and put your money back in fossil fuels or at least just give up because its all a hoax anyway. Of course there might be some sponorored payola behind it too.

    But as Tesla said (because it doesn't play stupid rent seeker mote games) and is open about its actual secret sauce- in the long run its advantage will be manufacturing not EVs or autonomy and its secret sauce is pace of innovation and execution and of course worthy mission. Tesla also gets the best people and doesn't waste, time, energy or money on bs. But in the mean time find a worthy competitor, one with a track record like Rimac. By the way Porsche isn't a worthy competitor- look at all the lying it pushed through sponsored media on its Taycan (does own part of Rimac.) But don't rely on a guy possibly overstating his former role at Tesla, its hired contractor FEV for range (sounds like a play on 'FCEV') or some dodgy video from a guy standing in the hills not on the track not even intending to catch a Lucid run (but claiming to be from an EV mag while half arsing the material) when Lucid could have easily did something more official and we don't even know if it was a souped up repurposed Model S Lucid running in a Lucid shell. Lucid does come off as a wanna be filching Nike's branding and parroting Apple's super long in the toothe way old Jonathan Ivy presentations down to the hair cut but belaboring the agony of it and trying to tell people that what everyone can see is obviously ugly is actually beautiful. And worst of all idiotically trying to claim that Tesla didn't destroy Daimler ICE so bad Daimler went straight and got out of ICE and dropped the hydrogen con (except in trucks- still a con there) and worse in the most Lucid undermining way that Lucid is trying to compete with defunct Daimler ICE! If Lucid is trying to pander to the Germans (as Warren has suggested) it missed that Daimler dropped ICE.

    And Insideevs takes a video of the Tesla S at Laguna setting a record and doesn't mention who the driver was but turns the video into a fossil fuel talking point ad for vaporous Lucid by talking about nothing but Lucid in the click bait and saying Lucid proved its numbers.

    Like they were take cues from the same prompter Trevor Milton and and Peter Rawlinson said over and over "what you see here is all invented in house" counter spin to for instance GM vitimin forumalry label maker status of definitely "not invented here." And we've since seen that refrain fail for Milton. No secret sauce. But Rawlinson also said we're nothing until our product is in customers hands. He was presumably hearing of the unraveling of Nikola over secrer sauce but he was right. Lucid has not proven anything and having Insideevs say so is questionable at best- why do that when its clearly not the case- what is the motive? Lucid can get an official track time at Laguna but people also need to verify its an actual Lucid product. Or we can wait for a random set of buyers results at tracks. But the competition should buy one (if it ever comes out) and take it to the track to verify because scammers would gladly rig a sample of supposed buyers.

    Its Lucid that has to prove its not vaporware like Nikola. The top Lucid protype that Lucid keeps lowering the numbers on (eg shaved 40 off the top end) never remotely competed with the numbers of the Tesla Roadster demostratee in 2017. And the top Lycid is slower zero to 60 than the long in production Model S which costs half as much.
