I’m getting ready for a cross country move so all of my fun projects are “on hold”. Not sure when I’d have time for this but it also sounds like the research has led to the discovery that the CR-V wheel is not exactly the same. Thanks for that. This might be DOA unless we get some heated wheels in the 2018s. I will admit that I have driven the car in some very cold weather since purchase and that material on the wheel stays pretty comfortable. The lack of heated wheel, while disappointing, is not quite the hardship I imagined.
Hello all, I have a huge amount of interest in making the Clarity steering wheel heated. It would put it over the top for me and I'd likely order one. Has anyone actually done this?
Someone here changed out the steering wheel on a base model Clarity with the leather wrapped Civic one (just ordered the part and did the switch). I think they posted pics and info on this forum. It was not the heated Civic one, though. Still, if you can figure out how to get the power and switching to the heated one, the change out may be essentially the same. I know the earlier post was about the CR-V, but the Civic change out is all I have seen... Edited to add link... https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/any-base-model-owners-add-your-own-leather-steering-wheel-wrap.3365/#post-34280
Jerry Yang posted on FB that CRV steering wheel doesn't fit with Clarity. He ended up resell it and buy a Civic's one https://m.facebook.com/story/graphql_permalink/?graphql_id=UzpfSTEyODgzMDMyMjQ6Vks6NjA4NTk4MDA5NTYzMDQz
Thanks, however I don't have permission to access that link? But the Civic does not have heated steering wheel, meaning it's not possible then right? Thank you Robert for the link to the leather steering wheel. More argument for the base model Clarity!
The Accord also has a heated wheel option. Part numbers were not the same there either though for models without heat.
I apologize. I thought the person who posted the link for the heated steering wheel was posting a link to a Civic part. I didn't realize it was the CR-V and that the Civic doesn't come with a heated option. If the link to the facebook page (which I can't see either) shows the CR-V doesn't work, the only option might be to try the Accord.
problem is they can’t get power. You need a new srs cable reel with wiring for the power for wheel. The aftermarket options are mostly plug in so you have a wire running away from the wheel.
Here are the install instructions for the accord wheel: https://www.collegehillshonda.com/instructions/accord/2018/heatedsteeringwheel.pdf
