I share your hate of thieves and I would never steal from anybody. Even in the lands/nations practicing mutilations for centuries there are still new crops of thieves coming up to mutilate. It's the human condition. Unfortunately there will always be sheep, wolves and guard dogs. On my end I refuse to be a sheep to the extent of my ability.

Think about Western society, in general: We do not do the right thing because it is the right thing to do - we do the right thing because there are consequences for NOT doing the right thing. But we try to push the boundary of "rightness": We drive over the speed limit, we walk where it says to not walk, we litter, etc. We try to get away with whatever we can in the hope that we won't be caught and punished. If it's a rainy day in Tokyo and you want to go into a store you fold your umbrella and lean it against the outside of the building. When you leave the store your umbrella will be there, waiting for you - because Japanese society expects its members to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.

The west used to be like that - doing what is right because it is right. I live in a part of the country where that still happens to some degree, so I can leave my doors unlocked and nothing happens.

We should ask ourselves what caused the changes in our culture?

I couldn't agree more! I'm 52, and it seems for the last few decades there has been a decline in "old fashion / family values" and a trend towards me-first and entitlement, and then blaming society when one doesn't have something...

    Thieves should be KILLED.

Yes, I protect my property. I park my clarity in the garage next to my other car, but that leaves my trucks outside. Point is, while it is always prudent to prevent others (criminals) from stealing your belongings, it would be so much better if the criminals were raised properly to be good people and not steal...

Ok, soap box put away. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

  10. For those who haven’t followed history, it all started after Leave It To Beaver was cancelled.

America was perfect up to that point. No crime, no prisons. Heck, everybody was so nice, we didn’t even need laws. Remember?

Now it seems the only countries that have their act together, and really protect their citizens, are the ones that kill people for stealing or disagreeing with the supreme leader or doing drugs. Golly gosh, some places used to cut a thief’s hand off and that wasn’t even enough to deter others from stealing.

Yes. Let’s kill those thieves. When that’s done, let’s start on the idiots.

To bring it back on topic, the issue is thieves stealing from others...

Those of us who are not only students of history, but also live in reality; we are aware that when society and government excuse and condone bad behaviour, you defacto, get more bad behaviour.

    Exhibits A, B and C:
    A) New York City where their present administration pushed to release all "low level" criminals without bail, resulting in increased crime. Huh, how could that be?
    B) Chicago where their leadership vilify and neuters the police, so recent "peaceful protests" and riots resulted in looted and burned down businesses. And on father's day weekend, there was over a hundred shootings, and several deaths including children... What, that can't be.
    C) Seattle where their leadership abandons a section of the city to a brave new beginning known as CHAZ, no wait, CHOP and, uh... Hmmm, that didn't work out so well...

Point is, if a society overlooks, apologizes for, and condones the behaviour of criminals, you get more crime. Class dismissed.

  13. Those are definitely the worst type of thieves. The ones that steal their own stuff are really quite harmless.
