A video from Elaphe about how they're working to counteract issues related the unsprung mass of in-wheel motors. https://fb.watch/j1dH7PC2mH/
Adding 23 kg of unsprung weight to each wheel seems to be a lot for a car as light as an Aptera. I'd love to drive one to feel for myself.
I get the feeling that "common knowledge" doesn't apply to Aptera as much as it would to, say, a Model 3 (as they're about the same size). Remember that most of Aptera's weight is in the battery pack - which is mounted at hub-level. How that mass moves should be highly predictable so I'm guessing they can do a great deal to mitigate ride and handling issues before they even build the first one. But you're absolutely correct: We won't know ANYTHING for certain until they have one rolling.
