  1. Well I am scheduled to pick up my 2020 red preferred Kona this Monday December 16, ordered May 13, 2019. Nice, it only took 7 months :)

I just ordered mine the beginning on November. I really hope that it does not take 7 months :(.

I did go to my dealer and ask for an update and they said that had none. Hopefully March they said.

  4. I feel like I am a worst case scenario. It sounds like their production is ramping up somewhat. My sales guy seems to think they will be back to a typical order time of 3 months relatively soon. Apparently my dealership is now allowed to keep a couple of instock Kona electrics for demo purposes, where they were told to not keep instock vehicles before. It would imply the supply is loosening up somewhat.

  5. Congrats on the good news!!

Happy to hear that you are joining our ranks in a few days Apu. I know that you will be enjoying the kona, especially that you already know all of tips and tricks from having been so active in the forums. Cheers!

  14. Where are you located? I got mine in 5 months - ordered June 20 something and picked up Nov 30. I'm on Vancouver Island.

I am St. Catharines, Ontario. Hopefully it will not be too long of a wait.

  16. Well my saga continues, was supposed to pick up the car on Monday. Unfortunately 3 hours before scheduled delivery I got a text informing that the business manager had a death in the family so rescheduled for this evening. The car looked brilliant , sat down to sign papers and I quickly noticed the numbers looked different. They tacked on the $1000 price increase and $329 for block heater, wtf!! I was furious, after what seemed an eternity they relented but now I have try and finish the deal over my lunch tomorrow. This could have been a great experience but honestly I'm a little soured about my dealer.

I am most curious about this "block heater" that they are charging you for. As in what type of "block" are we talking about here? For 329$, it can only be a block heater for an ICE car.

  18. exactly it was for a ice car, they were blindly adding on fees and presumably thought I would not notice.

  19. Well that's just fraud. Literally.

  20. In the very least unsavory business practice. I am still a little steamed about them wanting a grand more because of the 2020 Hyundai price increase that occurred 6 months into my wait and despite a signed buy contract with very specific terms. I would have never signed a contract if the terms were based on unknown future increases in price. Sorry for the rant, I'm going make myself a drink.

  21. Numbers different - sales contract revoked. Plain and simple.
    Stand your ground;)
In addition, get them to install your winters at N/C for the inappropriate procedure on their part.

  22. You would think so. Honestly if they at any point prior to the final moment of delivery said "hey our cost on this vehicle went up unexpectedly(2 months ago) by $1000 and we can't possible absorb it" I would have at least been somewhat understanding of their argument, but to slip it in the contract without a peep with other dubious line item fees for an ICE block heater, nitrogen in the tires(seriously Hyundai doesn't include free air in their tires?) and for unwanted wheels locks that weren't even on the car is just plain sordid. I feel a little more level headed today and hopefully it will go well this afternoon. I told them I have no more than a hour between my clients this afternoon, honestly I am little guarded that this may still go sideways. Last night I felt disadvantaged as they knew about my anticipation for this vehicle and I suspect they thought they could push a few more buttons, today I am ready to take my deposit back, winter wheels(which look awesome on the car) buying a different car and going to small claims courts to recover the interest on my deposit , bill business time loss incurred by their delays and any loss I generate selling the wheels/tires and accessories I have already purchased.

  23. Sounds like a crappy dealer. My dealer called me when the price increase took effect and asked if I wanted to continue or get my deposit back. They didn't put any add ons to the contract and there was no high pressure sales pitch for extras. Sounds like your experience is quite different. Definitely stand your ground.
