Wow! You ordered in May and received it in June. That's amazing and lucky. We ordered our sig.-plus SE last week from Tempe, AZ Mini and have been told to expect a four month wait. We ordered the chili red all over, no moonroof, and the lighter interior to help with the extreme heat here. (Mini doesn't give the option of silver all over, at least on the sig. or sig.-plus, which was our first choice.) We also plan to have premium 3M tint installed. We're hoping the combination results in noticeably better range by reducing the A/C demand. We deleted the moonroof based on previous experience with long term leakage and corrosion issues with sun/moon roofs and a SE review video I found where the reviewer specifically commented the moonroof made the car noticeably warmer inside when it got over 90 degrees even with the interior shades closed. That's a non-starter in "the valley of the sun" where at is much warmer than 90 degrees for much of the spring, summer, and fall.

I basically told the dealer, find one, no red. That was my only demand. I did ceramic tint the windows and it made a big difference. I'm in Atlanta.

Okay, that makes more sense. Thank you for the clarification. You didn't do a "build order" to Mini. I'm glad to hear the ceramic tint is working. That is what we are planning to use as well.

Cindy B - I just put an order down for a Mini SE through Dave Smith at Mini Scottsdale. THey have a Chili Red Sig that has already been built but not shipped yet. It is body color roof as well, and has the parking assist package. If it fits, I would give them a call and likely decrease your waiting time by 3 months!

Thank you for the info. I completely forgot about the other Mini dealer in the valley. We ordered a Sig-plus to get the lighter interior. I think I'll still give Scottsdale Mini a call to see if we can work something out. Just FYI, I discovered by watching a Canadian Mini review on YouTube, Mini is not selling the same trim levels and interiors there. The review was of top trim level version sold there which is not the same as the Iconic sold here. It had slightly different standard features/equipment and a bright, almost white interior upholstery.

I have been following this feed for awhile but finally got up the nerve to join. The car in the avatar is the one ordered BACK IN APRIL!!! I ordered on April 2, 2021. Later, I got a call from the dealer on June 14 that I needed to go the website and reserve a vehicle even though I had already put earnest money down. Seems electric minis are not ordered very often in Tennessee. Anyway, I finally got a production number two days ago. This is my first new car and I can't wait! I told the dealer to forget the ship and put it on plane!!!

Thank you for your post. We have also not been given a production number after placing our deposit. We are going to check with Tempe Mini to be sure our Mini SE has actually been ordered and if we have a production number yet.

A heartfelt thank you to hanyoung99. We bought the red one Scottsdale Mini had "in-transit". It is expected to arrive at the dealer by the first week of August! :) The other two they had "in-transit" were already sold. It is an options loaded (it even has the HUD) Signature instead of the Sig-plus we wanted, but it did save us a couple thousand dollars. Tempe Mini never did get back to us with a production number and we cancelled the order with them.

CindyB - you are very welcome! If it wasn't for the kindness of AZ Mini owners like Tifosi and JiminTucson, we might have also missed buying our Mini. Just like you - our wait was minimal compared to others. And I think your mini is a perfect option - no sunroof (so no heat here!), and you have all the parking sensors you need. My wife loves her green / white roof / Sig. I'm planning to install parking sensors for her soon. Wave when we see each other in town!

We'll be looking for you :) I couldn't agree more on the roof. - A black roof and sunroof really make no sense here, even though you see Minis with that combination all the time here. It may not have been the best decision, but we also went for the dealer installed ceramic tint ($399) and exterior protection-premier ($595). If they use quality products and do a good job applying, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. We actually couldn't find a detail/tint shop that was as cheap. Did you opt for those add-ons?

We did the ceramic tint as the prices were comparable locally and I didn't want to leave a new car there w them if it could be done by the dealer. We didn't do exterior protection - as I wash and wax the cars myself and might end up using a ceramic sealer in the future.

We've gotten too old to do our own washing and waxing, although we did so for years. I think any owner will do a better job on their own car than a detail shop will. The "exterior protection-premier" is supposedly a ceramic paint sealer and has a limited 7 year guarantee. From what I've read, it's best to do when a car is new, although it can be done at any time. I guess I'll be the guinea pig and let you know if it was worth it:) I'm a bit skeptical given the low price. - Detail shops start at $850 and go all the way to $2000 for the ceramic paint sealer procedure.

nice! in that case it is a good deal. I've used ceramicpro in the past for our cars and it was $$$ and honestly I didn't think it was all that great.

  22. How did you get the moon roof on the island blue?

Moonroof is standard on the Electric Collection package as its based on the SE.
