At what electricity price overnight charging at home gets more expensive than filling ICE with gas?

Used to be the polar bear capital of the world Churchill, MB, but now it's rural Alberta by the mountains.

    Here's the 2021 annual production of a 12.4kW system.

  3. Here in BC, I'm paying 13.6 cents all in (2nd tier) per kWh at home right now, so pretty cheap. It's a lot harder to justify a home solar system. I looked at it a couple years ago, and was a 10+ year payback. Don't think we will be in our house that long. But at the cabin, no hydro service, so off-grid solar is our only choice.

My charger there does keep stats but haven't really looked at them, and not sure if they are lost if I disconnect it. Will have a closer look next summer. Am upgrading my system to handle the Solterra charging. It can suck 1.76 kW per hour, and current panels are only 1000 watts. But I just bought additional panels ($189 per 300W panel) and will be upgrading to a 2.5 kW system. My current avg usage last summer was 2.4 kWh per day (TV, Starlink and lights, sometimes an X-Box with the kids). I have a 16.8 kWh battery bank right now upgrading to 21.6 kWh for next year, so lots of capacity there, too. 1000W per day was good enough for last few years.
