A new way to crack a windshield (for me, anyway)

  1. As an update, SafeLite called yesterday morning to say the windshield had not arrived for our scheduled Monday install. Said they’re having problems with parts and supplies across the board. Rescheduled for Thursday.

The crack is still slowly spreading…photo to follow.

  3. Update to the update…

No windshield as of last Thursday, but they called to say it arrived today. Earliest appointment is next Tuesday. Crack is still working its way across:

Thanks LandShark. I bought some RainX chip repair kit on Amazon, should arrive Sunday. Will see if it works.

  5. Got the new windshield today at SafeLite. Knocked it out with calibration in just a couple hours. So far, quite happy with the results.

Just curious whether you can ascertain whether the new windshield was a Honda OEM part, or whether SafeLite now has access to an aftermarket equivalent?

I am 99% sure it is a OEM as there is too little demand for it.

My dealer was pushing a glass warranty I was only too happy to buy, having had every vehicle I've ever owned end up with a chipped windshield. Haven't had one yet on the Clarity, but the warranty promises filling for chips and full replacement for cracks.
