I'm not sure but I'm thinking you download the data into the SD card. You will need a SD card reader for that to plug it into your computer. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
Yes sounds like what you say is right since we don't have a wifi receiver in the car. (at least I don't think we do lol).
Apparently Google Maps added charging station search last October. Is there something the onboard maps are doing that Google maps don't?
I just read the FAQ's on our map site and it looks like we don't have to go to the dealer if our computer is running Windows 7 or newer. Here are there FAQ's. What is the MapCare program? MapCare are complimentary map updates for customers with embedded navigation systems. The update provides the latest maps and points of interest (restaurants, hotels, etc.), as well as, other software improvements. Owners receive five years of free updates for new vehicle purchases. Who's eligible for this MapCare program? All 2018 Hyundai Models and newer How do I check the current map version in my vehicle? In your infotainment system, go to your system info page located in the settings to find the Map Version. How do I know if my map version is older than the current version? If your map version starts with a lower number than the current one offered, then you need an update. For example, if your map shows 10.47.XXX and the current version available is 11.41.XXX, you can update. How much does it cost? These updates are free to download onto your current vehicle SD card. To get a new SD card, there is a charge of $30 CAD plus shipping. What are the computer requirements to download the map? A PC running Windows 7 or newer Copyright 2019 MnSOFT All Rights Reserved.
No, actually the onboard maps are older than Google. I used a charger which is there for longer than 1/2 year is still not in the Hyundai map. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
The onboard map doesn't show any of the DC Chargers near me. Kind of useless in that respect. The chargers have been in place a couple of years. It also doesn't have all of the level 2 charging stations in town either, and there aren't that many to start with. Sent from my SM-T380 using Inside EVs mobile app
Yeah, it's basically useless. However I've been meaning to get the send to car feature set up that apparently the car has. Somehow we should be able to send locations from Google to the car. It seems like it only works from desktop but still an easy way to transfer locations. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
Do we need to take the SD card (and car ) to our dealer, and will they charge for the service ? I see the empty case for the present SD card glued to the inside back of the Multimedia System manual.
As far as I understand you can take the SD card or of your car, plug it into your desktop/laptop etc. and then download the update to the SD card. Then plug it back into the car and you're done. Alternatively you can order an SD card from Hyundai which they will charge for. I guess if you don't know how to do all that, your dealer might be able to help. If they charge you I guess is at their discretion. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

I wonder if using Android Auto would do that? I saw this video on the Blue Link site about using google. https://www.hyundaicanada.com/en/about/faq Okay that didn't copy so here goes again.
Definitely, Android auto is completely separate and uses Google maps. However, you don't have a turn by turn and distance in the HUD and the car doesn't know when you are planning on recharging, so you don't get the projected distance of mileage like you do on the right side of the car Navi system screen. It's not super essential but a nice feature I like about the in car Navi. I've been switching between Android auto and in car system over the last couple weeks. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
I saw this on the US Blue Link site. https://m.hyundaiusa.com/technology/bluelink/features/navigation.html
Yeah, I have to actually play around with it. I logged in and linked the systems a couple days ago. My thoughts are to be able to use the Plugshare website to plan the route. It has that trip planning feature that's pretty cool. Unfortunately it isn't linked to the app, so when you save your route it doesn't show up in the app. However, after planning the route in Plugshare, you could potentially send the locations of the chargers you're planning on using to the car using the send-to-car feature. I believe that would be a great way to do that. Last time, I saved the locations in Google, then opened them in Android Auto. It worked, but the categorization didn't work and for some reason only 2 out of the 3 chargers showed up. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
integration with this app would awesome https://abetterrouteplanner.com/beta/ Just change the car to Kona 64 kWh
The Canadian site is now accepting registrations and the latest version on there is 3.0. I haven't attempted to go through the complex installation, and in any case I'm being warned that it is currently unavailable to me. This might be one for the dealer. You can download some informational pdf's though.
Most likely Hyundai Corp. is waiting for today's week# rollover update https://techcrunch.com/2019/04/06/gps-rollover-is-today-heres-why-devices-might-get-wacky/ May not affect if the firmware was created properly but I suspect they are going to update probably in a week or so after testing. I personally will not be first guinea pig and will wait until others (in Canada) have updated successfully, then at least we will know that we are good for another 19.69 years.
