  1. In all honesty Wildeyed, mine will be ready a day earlier than my dealer told me so there is hope! You're a bit further east of me, so if the train came into the Toronto sorting yard from Vancouver like mine did, they might just be making sure they have your car on a loaded hauler before they send it your way! Stay positive!

  3. I wish I could remember everything I wanted to say so I could put it all in one post lol. In the email I received from my dealer with the pictures, he mentioned that it would take them a good 2 days for Pre Delivery Inspection as mine will be their first delivery (as well as the black one on the carrier, I thought the red was electric as well but it looks like a gasser). He did mention that their head mechanic would be the one doing it as he went to Toronto for the training. The head mechanic also said the interior looks far better than the vehicle they trained on in Toronto.

My dealer texted yesterday to say that the Toronto-area Konas are now held up at their Head Office Compound. Maybe a number of those will be hauled Eastward?

  5. I'm impressed (and a little depressed, I suppose) to hear everyone getting texts, updates, photos etc. from their dealers. I don't recall a single communication from my dealer over this last 8 months that was initiated by them. Count yourselves lucky.

  6. Well, I started the ball rolling with mine. After being told by Customer Service (Hyundai Canada) that I would have a reply in two business days about why they had no record of my order, and nothing but crickets after a week I sent as polite of a nastygram as I could. I pretty much berated Hyundai for being a giant multinational company that can't even keep their own customer contact promises, and while I really wanted my $60,000 car from them my money could also be spent elsewhere. The next morning, suprise they called me back! The next day my dealer called as well saying they had also forwarded the email to him lol.

  8. And to add to that, my dealer has been very good, he's also had Nada for information from upstairs either.

I'm not a light interior kind of guy, but I must say the light interior on this vehicle was pretty nice. It is nice to see that in the sun the whole interior looks grey! However when you finally get inside it, you will see the two tone and the light blue accents around. It sure does brighten up the interior though!

Yes, I found the collective information in this group to be pretty good. I especially found the information from the Alberta person about the RO-RO ships that were docking on Annacis Island!! That was valuable information to take back to the dealer and have them double check lol.

  11. "vehicle delivery will be allocated based on your pre-order date". A quote from the September 11th communication from Hyundai Canada. Wonder what happened?

You should print that communication out and take it to the dealer. If they don't throw in any freebies on their own, then show that and see if they change their mind. Or just e-mail head office and say you want free mats, roof racks, a bag, anything else you can think of?!!!! lol

Was that the 8 year Premium Plus Plan? Did they give you a choice to buy it within say 30 days??

Hi Welsh, congrats on the white Kona - same as what I got last week. I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am.
I was in Qualicum for New Year's & saw that charger, it's a short walk from my friends place. (I'm charging right now at BCAA office in Burnaby & using their free WiFi :))
Yes, there's lots to learn with this car. Have you installed the ChargePoint app? Once you have it you can start using their chargers even before you get one of their cards (they say 7 to 10 days for delivery). Open the app on your phone, make sure to enable "location" in phone settings, the app will see the charger you're at, press the "start charging" button on the app & Bob's your Uncle - free level 2 charging! They send you an email after with all the stats from your session....information overload!
Have fun with the car, keep on learning & I might see you at your charger this summer - I gotta say, the view from it is amazing - right on the ocean!

  16. Mine was $2800 for Premium Plus. 4 years was about $2400. Since I have 45 days to cancel I decided to take it and then consider my options.
My plan is probably to upgrade in 3 years when I expect there will be way more cars to choose from and batteries will be much better. My only reason for the longer warranty is to make the resale value higher but I don’t think it would increase enough to pay for the warranty. I’m leaning towards cancelling.

  17. While I have always been very skeptical of extended warrantees I would be doubly so in this case and advise that you make sure that your policy is written specifically for an EV and is not a boilerplate policy for an ICE car. There are a lot of points of difference and you might find the list of covered items is much shorter on an EV and also that the EV specific components are already adequately covered with the standard 8 year coverage.

  18. I completely agree. My dealer was only able to show me the warranty for ICE cars and it really doesn’t relate to coverage for an EV. She is trying to get the EV warranty document from Hyundai.

  19. Sorry you are going through this. I'm going through the same issues with the added bonus that my dealer has handed down some pretty blatant lies about the delivery. I've seriously considered cancelling the purchase. The thing is, I really want the car, for loads of reasons. The happy, almost giddy feeling I've had up until the lies came out is totally crushed. I'm disappointed that that was taken away. That said, the car is still what it was before - a really great, well designed technologically sound car that will be fantastic to get around with. I'm going to enjoy that car much longer than the few weeks of frustration and disappointment endured because of a sleezy salesman. Also, I was told that we would receive a survey after the sale is done and that Hyundai take this pretty seriously. I will be brutally honest in my evaluation of the experience. Unfortunately, I'm not looking forward to the buy - I'm expecting nothing, if only to be screwed with the trade-in. But, once that ordeal over, it will be over - follow up and any issues will be dealt with at another dealership - and I can hit the road with my phantom black Kona and thoroughly enjoy the ride! (Just as a footnote, I reserved the car the day reservations opened - it's been a long wait. I think I know more about that car than just about anything I own! :) )

It’s definitely still there but not chrome. It’s like a brushed metal looking plastic like the front fascia. The hatch has a little sliver of chrome on it. I wish it was that brushed material for consistency’s sake!

Crazy! Mine had the exact same issue with the trunk! They had to adjust the little rubber stroppers on the latch. My sales person messaged me today and told me that he just had his second delivery and it too had the same “open hatch” warning issue. Seems like it might be more wide-spread than I thought!

Yup the trunk issue has made its way to North America. Mine requires a hefty closing or it will not lock properly. The doors are also a bit sensitive and want to be closed firmly.

The good news is that there are no rattles or loose things vibrating or shaking in the cockpit.
