Tariffs + no tax credits. Other companies are attempting to build and source batteries in NA.

2 door hardtop costing more than an Ioniq 5 is going to be a hard sell (Ioniq will later be built in NA)

Coincidentally, I just saw an Ioniq 5 drive past as I was walking to lunch. It's a bigger vehicle than I prefer, but as one auto writer noted, it hides its bulk well.

With even used ones costing $15-20k more than a new SE, though, it's more than I am willing to spend.

Is there any indication if the Aceman is coming to the US? I could not tell from the article.

But I do agree, that with tariffs and no tax credit, it will face very stiff competition from other options. I like it though, and hope it is a competitive product in the US market.

The last statement I saw on that (around the original announcement date) speculated the Aceman would not come to North America ("too small"), but the larger Countryman BEV would. I would much prefer the smaller Aceman to a larger-than-the-current-generation Countryman, but I'm clearly not a typical American car shopper.

Given how big the median car has become nowadays.....I think anyone who would buy a Mini 2D hardtop does not qualify as a typical American car shopper anymore.

I'd also be more interested in an Aceman than the new, bigger Countryman. The old, smaller Countryman is kinda okay (workable), though.

    YUL
Same here, I’ve been bitten by the MINI bug (and a rekindled fondness for small eurowheels that faded when my smart 450 started becoming too problematic to keep fixing) and have started looking at R60/61s on Kijiji (what you used to call eBay Classifieds) to replace the '94 Crapolla as my workhorse.
