Even Maytag had it's enkindling moments and hopefully soon Hyundai will resolve the acknowledged original cell defect issue within too long worldwide, as it did tarnish the brand. I do agree it has indeed held its own with all competitors. At the time of purchase Kona EV seemed an expensive acquisition, however in hindsight it really offers the best as you mentioned for $, something I originally never considered would be still in play after approaching 4 years of manufacture. Anticipate many more satisfied years to come...
Maytag's reputation didn't enable them to remain independent and in control of their products. Maytag is now just another division of Whirlpool.
That was discussed at length earlier in the thread. And yet, for people of a certain age the equation, "Maytag = dependability" still sticks. That shows the power of brand image. Sadly, making a good product is no guarantee of either a well-managed company or profitability. But when I was a kid and our Magnavox TV and Pontiac station wagon seemed to need repairs every other week, that Maytag washer and dryer were freakin' bulletproof.
Sorry, I didn't mean to rehash what was discussed at length earlier in the thread. My Maytag/Whirlpool refrigerator has been very reliable. I've been driving my MINI Cooper SE for only 2 years, but it feels Maytaggish to me.
No apologies needed. Every EV has two orders of magnitude fewer moving parts. Better still, they only move when needed versus any ICE vehicle that even at idle has hundreds of parts at moving, wearing out, and making noise. We drive modern marvels that make any ICE vehicle into a fossil. Bob Wilson
