short trip, parked, shut off, on restart car won't shift into D or R, comes up with battery warning traction battery at ~38 percent had it towed home meter shows 12 volt battery at over 13 volts, so should be fine The battery maintain box is checked in the little menu There was some sort of charging fault, as I had plugged it in and it didn't charge last night ideas?
So.................went through the manual to look at fuses, somewhat cryptic Looked at the labels under the cover in the frunk one said '40A BAT +' Pulled it out , something clicked It was plugged in but not choosing to charge[who knows why] Viola She lives Drove down the street and back Turned off and on several times, seems fine Still wouldn't charge until I started from the app, which is not normal in my experience. The over 13 volts was the car charging the battery I had previously turned that option off and on again Detached it read 12.6+ volts
Several points come to mind (while I'm downing my lunch): (1) you presumably have a 2023+ Niro which is a different EV than the 2019-2022 Niro; (2) the Kona doesn't charge the 12V battery every 4 hours when the traction battery is under 40% and I would not be surprised if that policy followed through to the 2019-2022 and 2023+ Niros; (3) short trips are hard on the 12V battery, just like an ICE. It's worth investing in a BM2 battery monitor so you can learn when it's a bit vulnerable. Resetting the media centre might correct the remaining issue.
It is a 2020 Well, it was charging the battery [it would seem] before I got it to run It feels like a glitch in the 12 volt management system Not sure the battery was really dead
Ok, essentially the same as my 2019 Kona EV. I think the Niro may only charge the 12V battery once a day however. I don't think these cars have"glitches", what they have is a 12V battery that has barely enough capacity at the best of times. In certain circumstances they can be left with not enough charge to survive. This is why owners buy the cheap BM2 logger and quickly check it once every day or two.
Oh they have plenty of glitches this is similar to the zombie car reported after remote starting. I have no real problem with the car, but the software all in all is sub par
