clarity tire repair kit to inflate the tire

Resurrecting an old thread to warn everyone. I got the 10179 refill kit. While some 10179 might be the right size, the one I got is \narrower and taller than the Honda one, and so doesn't fit into the pump. I may ditch the whole thing (since I prefer my old pump anyway) and just get a can of fix-a-flat. No idea why Honda can't sell the refills...add insult to injury when you lose a tire

Kind of pricey, at $61.12 + shipping, but hopefully it would fit the pump.

 

I thought you meant the whole pump. No, that's $128.60 (list $181.63). The refill is
$61.12 (list $86.33). If I get an extended warranty towards the end of my 3 years, it will be because of the outrageous parts prices.

Anyone know of another version of the pump (e.g., the slime one) that fits in the trunk slot?

 

@Robert_Alabama found a Mopar version of the pump that's similar.

It seems both are sourced from ITW (as noted earlier in this thread by @AlanSqB), and per this ITW page and the detailed specification links, the two versions have the same outside dimensions, so may fit in the same slot in the side panel.

Apparently, they are Chrysler and Ford OEM too, which might give some additional options. I wonder if the taller cartridge I have (Slime 10179) will fit the "Airbox II" due to the moved connectors (the Honda version is the "Airbox I")

 

Just to close this out, I got my hands on a Mopar pump (aka, an ITW Airbox II). Per the documents on the page I linked above, it has the same size as the airbox I.

No big surprise, it doesn't have the same size. I think they just copy/pasted that part. It's shorter in one dimension and longer in another, and doesn't fit into the slot. I'm convinced that their supplier changed it, and so they just went with it, without looking too carefully. This might also explain why some 10179 refills seem to fit the Honda pump (maybe older refills) while the current refills do not. The same inattention to detail would be why they didn't bother to check if the item changed and made a new item # for the refill (or they can't get the old refill, but don't want to advertise that).

The good news is that the one I got is newer than my Honda one (whose goop would have expired in 2023 anyway, had I not used it), so I get another 2+ years of tire goop. Also, I think it fits the newer 10179 refills. It doesn't fit in the slot, however, but I'll just leave myself a note there and put the pump under the trunk floor with the charge cable, if it fits.
