"Thoughts?" Ouch, Insightman gets grief for giving his thoughts that you asked for. Come on now. The reply should have stopped at '...aesthetic.' Maybe re-title your post as "Thoughts, if you agree with me." Insightman has a most excellent idea. I read it as: just put the white stripes on, then you have a blue-black car with most awesome blue-black stripes. (I would prefer if you painted the thin white outline pinstripes as opposed to vinyl, but that is my opinion.)
I don't feel any grief at @bldxyz's reply. I appreciated the explanation why my suggestions didn't pass muster. I'd forgotten that @bldxyz wished for chrome trim rather than being forced to take the piano black. My revised suggestion would be to pop for the chrome bits to get exactly the SE @bldxyz envisioned. Eight months in and I still smile every time I notice the logically scoopless custom bonnet on my perfect SE. I don't mind that some believe I've reduced my SE's "S"-ness by dumping that vestigial ornament harkening back to the days of the internal combustion engine. It's too bad MINI no longer makes it easy for customers to get exactly what they want, trim-wise.
>>I don't mind that some believe... << Exactly, as to style, one should not seek anyone else's approval--just do it, and be proud when you show it off! As to everything else (logistics, charging, tires, benefits of particular options, on and on) this forum is a great place to ask first, seek input and then move on to the next question. I have learned so much from this forum--thank you all!
I think part of what I was looking for was if the demo of the stripes looked okay, given that this is a third party. It’s a vinyl wrap place, so they will be custom-cutting the vinyl for the stripes.
I think they normally go closer to the grille edge, and they generally follow the contour of the hood and not be straight from windshield to nose. Although it is customization, so anything goes.
Looks great! Love how the roulette wheels echo that hint of brightness on the edges of the stripes too.
That was the idea! The side stripes are silver, instead of white, just to do a better job of picking up the wheels and belt line.
