We knew model 3 had million mile motors- which is 10x better than Big 2.5 stuff. But what we didn't know was the 2170s in it were good for 2 million miles. See newest Now You Know episode. So the Model 3 had the million mile power train from the start. Much better than unreliable low quality, obsolete over priced stuff from defunct poseur brand BMW. My guess about why Tesla didn't announce that from the start is full charge discharge cycles take time to double check. And of course users can do unreasonable things by charging outside the practical proper use case that will cut into that life but surely not remotely by enough to come under 1 million miles.
