Reviving an old thread (best I've found on the subject) to see if anyone has tried, or what their thoughts are, on 16 inch rims. My wife and I drive like really old people with the PHEV, so handling isn't a huge concern, and I suppose tires and wheels would be cheaper for 16"
I think it would be tough to find 16" tires that can provide the same overall diameter as the 18" OEM tires. With smaller-diameter tires, you would lose some ground clearance and you would be affecting your speedometer/odometer readings. Also, it might be difficult to find 16" wheels that can accommodate the Clarity's brake discs and calipers.
The 16" I tried didn't clear the brakes. Stick with 17 or up (TireRack gas really good fitment guides).
Comparable tire size I can find. Brakes I didn’t consider fully. Assumed Honda 16” wheels would work with the brakes. A bad assumption.
Had the same experience. Would of liked 16 due to much lower price but even with 17 steelies brake clearance is pretty thin.
Thought this might be the thread to share this informative Popular Science article on snow tires now called winter tires. Glad I live far enough south that I don’t have to worry about this. https://www.popsci.com/story/technology/winter-tire-driving-guide/
I like these rims if I was going to buy a 17" set... https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-17-17X7-5-INCH-Alloy-Wheel-Rim-For-HONDA-ACCORD-2016-2017-OEM-Quality-64080/193204637449 They are aftermarket, not OEM...
For everything except the Clarity! For some reason, the Tire Rack never got access to a Clarity for fitment. When I asked about that, they suggested I bring mine in!
