My first A1 service at 6,500 miles was $30: Oil change - $0.00 (first one free, normally $12.95) Tire rotation - $30.00 Maybe this is the start of CT’s economic turnaround...
That's too expensive, sounds like BMW territory. Are all Bay Area Honda dealers this expensive? You can get tires rotated for free at America's Tire or Discount Tire.
I'll be surprised if we hit 7500 before the one-year mark. This is a second car, so it's really only used if the other is in service. As a result, Clarity has very low mileage so far. I'll likely take it in sometime in mid-December if we don't hit the mileage mark before then. That'd make it exactly a year.
The cost of living is sky high in the Bay Area. I used to live there so that doesn't sound off at all. BMW, Mercedes, etc can be much higher for the same service. In PA, my A01 at the dealer was less than $60, no discounts. My house here would cost more than 10X as much in the Bay Area.
Just took our 18 Ody for it's first A1 service at 5800 miles, but bought about 6 months ago. Oil change is free for life and rotation was $22. But they said because of the low miles it was not needed but to do it at the next service. I may take it to Costco or Sams and have it done there instead, where they do balancing as well...
Oil change and tire rotation on my previous car (Mercedes E350) cost $250-300, so Honda service prices are way lower. They did provide a free loaner however. A friend of mine paid $2K for a 60K-mile service on his E Class. I am glad I replaced mine before the spark plugs were due at 50K miles. Having said that, Honda should fix the maintenance minder on the Clarity. I have only used 9 gallons of gas overall and the estimated time to service indicates that the oil is 50% done. Makes no sense. I might just syphon the oil out through the dipstick and replace with Mobil1 0w20. Even that is likely a waste of time and resources.
I live in the Marin county area have a Clarity PEV I hit 6100 Here is my bill listing these codes but from what I see is that 72.83 for an oil change and visual inspection seems high. Is this a normal price for an oil change. Yikes HOZZ#0 72.83 I may switch to an outside oil change service. Visual inspection 91.00 umm that is alot to look at a car. Tire Rotation 29.95 seem ok market rate Below are the service codes that may help others access what it entails. ANyone have price estimates on how much my 2nd service will be. Does anyone else have suggestions for regular service for my PHV? Hope this helps others Thanks Brian
$91 for just inspection ??? WOW they took you to the cleaners! Go find a reputable independent. Mine is 1/3 the price of dealer service. All my cars go to the indy (BMW, Land Rover, Merc, Honda).... For my Clarity, all oil and tire service is included for the next 3 years (prepaid) under Honda Care....
I just did the A01 service at about 8000 miles on the odometer in the Seattle WA area. I used the dealer I bought from as they provide oil changes for life with all new Hondas sold....also a lifetime limited warranty but that is for another post. They normally charge $60 for the oil change to folks who didn't buy new from them, nothing for the inspections and $15 for the tire rotation. They threw in the tire rotation this time and it cost me zilch. I'm a happy camper.
Oil Change with Oil filter change. Did it myself. Cost of motor oil and oil filter was $15. Tire rotation, did it myself, $0 Total cost. $15, and one Hour of my time.
The cost of the oil and filter was $15? That's an amazing deal. Best I can find for Mobil 1 0W-20 is $5.32/qt after a $10 instant rebate from Costco.
Got my A01 service done today, SB updates and electronic valve replacement in climate system. I got the pleasant surprise that the dealership I bought the car from gives free maintenance (if of course you bought the car from them). They should advertise that at the time of sale (pretty sure they didn't mention it). I didn't get as good a deal as some of you guys did, but it was good for this area at the time, so I've been happy. This makes me feel even better... The tablet went out on the way back home and did a reboot, but I am assuming that was just a delayed reaction from the SB upgrades.
I buy my oil when there's a rebate from $10 to $12 from Mobil or Pennzoil. I've been buying a 5 qt container from Walmart or Amazon for $20-$23 before rebate. The rebate is easy to do and takes 5 minutes. I heard you can double dip if there is a store rebate (Pepboys, Autozone, O'Reilly, etc) as well as manufacturer's. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-Advanced-Fuel-Economy-Full-Synthetic-Motor-Oil-0W-20-5-qt/17034374 https://mobiloil.com/en/promotion/mobil-promotions/mobil-1-rebate-2019 https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/promotions/do-it-yourself-oil-change/promotion-13.html#iframe=L2RpeS9TcHJpbmdNSVIxOS9zdG9yZWxvY2F0b3IuY2Zt
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Tech-Conventional-SAE-5W-30-Motor-Oil-5-Quarts/16474403 $12.88 https://www.walmart.com/ip/FRAM-Extra-Guard-Oil-Filter-PH7317/16817236 $3.88 Total is $16.76. I don't have the lookup for the Supertech motor oil filter, but the Supertech motor oil filters are around $2.88. In case anybody is wondering about the SuperTech motor oil, and Supertech motor oil filters, I've used them for over 30 years, on cars and motorcycles, for hundreds of thousands of miles, and I have never had an engine problem.
That’s the wrong oil for the Clarity. It takes 0W-20 API Cert., which I have only been able to find as synthetic or semi-synthetic. To avoid WWIII, I will refrain from any comment on the filter.
I have maintenance minder code A01 plus coupons the dealer sent to me for oil change ($22) and tire rotation ($10). Are folks suggesting they’re going to whack me for the “0” service (multi point inspection)?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, auto dealers have usually lived up to their dismal reputations in my experience. I would ask first to avoid surprises.
Just got my A01 with tire rotation and the cost was $50.83 from Shingle Springs (CA) Honda. They have treated me well thus far.
$22 for an oil change ? Probably if your car uses regular oil. Most likely since your Clarity uses synthetic and pricey 0W20 weight, there will be a surcharge.... As for the inspection - ask the service advisor before you give them your car....
