I received this message on 11 March - and the delay was confirmed by the local VW dealer "Electric Vehicle Specialist". This is for the US AWD Pro S.

We're writing to notify you that the estimated delivery timeframe of your ID.4 has changed to October-December 2021.

All good things in life are worth the wait, and we truly believe you're going to love the ID.4.

We realize this may require you to adjust plans for your current vehicle. If you'd like to get into a rear-wheel drive ID.4 earlier, please contact our Customer CARE team. Or, if you need to cancel your reservation, simply log into my ID.4 Reservation and you'll receive a full refund. We thank you for your patience.

The EV Specialist did add that :
"Orders are being fulfilled starting with the oldest and working forward, so the extra round of 1st Edition orders shouldn't affect the timeline"

I received an identical message, the same day, regarding my AWD Pro S .... will keep my reservation active.

They claim that, but some people who ordered last Sept are only on step 4 (implying the car is still on a boat), and some of us who got in on the 2nd chance are at step 5 (implying the car is at the port of entry). Then again, the portal could just be out of date.

Anyways, I am in the latter group. My car now shows on the dealer inventory (but still not yet at the dealer lot, and with just one stock photo). The dealer has no ETA for either my car or the demo.

I suspect that a few people will take delivery this week. It will be clearer how VW is fulfilling orders once this starts to happen.

When did you place your order for the AWD Pro S? I placed mine on October 6.

I placed my initial reservation on 27 September.

I test drove the ID.4 1st (RWD) this past Saturday. The local dealership had 3 - one allocated for the demo unit. While it wasn't sluggish, it certainly isn't like a Tesla off the starting line. I hadn't driven an EV before Saturday. I found the dash and controls to be well laid out. Not entirely intuitive, but most features didn't require the manual - just a few moments to examine and see what happens. The only challenge I had was finding the "Park" feature once I stopped. The button isn't visible from my driver position.
I was pleased to find a familiar VW feel. Plenty of acceleration to merge into highway traffic. More to follow, as I plan another drive Monday.

I spoke to my dealer. If I wanted to get a car sooner, they offered to sell me a 1st Edition - RWD model on the spot. So instead of waiting until October (or December...) I said "Yes". They're charging/detailing it now. I'll be doing paperwork this evening and have it home tonight!
I can still hold the Pro S Gradient on order - to consider trade in from the 1st; or perhaps trade in the other family car.

BTW: The Blue is nice - but the Black car with the trim work really stands out!

We picked up our ID.4 1st Edition today! The first at that dealer, and possibly the second in the state (MA).

Congratulations! Was that based on the pre-order ?

I still haven't been able to register for Electrify America - it won't take my credit card. EA has been supportive though - I need to call the support line for them to remotely activate the service.

Yes, we reserved it on the first day that we could. We activated the account at the dealership with their guidance. I think you have to sign up for the Pass (vs the Pass+) which is no monthly fee, and if you leave it plugged in more than 10 minutes after the charging has finished, you pay a penalty fee.

To get the EA for VW, browse premium offers, and you should see it. You need to enter the VIN and an enrollment code you get from your dealer

Electrify America released 5.10.<x>() about a week ago. This resolved the issue. I was able to find the Premium Offering originally - but it still requires a credit card entry. EA was sending emails saying my payment had been updated, but the app wouldn't advance to the final stages. That's been resolved!
They've since updated to 5.11.x() seems like they are quick to update and release - which is helpful
