I ended up turning mine in on Dec 14. with a full battery.
I completed all the paperwork and even called Honda to confirm.
My Honda Link App still works, so every once in a while I look at where the car is.
While its almost been a month since I've turn in, I can still track the car sitting at the dealership I returned it too.

I had returned mine on the 11 of December. My app just notified me the car is now on adelanto, CA after a month and half sitting on the dealer lot. Sitting at the adelanto recycling yard to be dismantled.

    What a waste.

  5. Did Honda get a ZEV credit for leasing the car in CA?

They got 1.9 ZEV credits for the BEV
FCEV earns them 4 ZEV credits (that count in all ZEV states, not just CA where they are sold/leased)
PHEV gets them 1.01 TZEV credits (in the Section 177 State where they are delivered)

Are we saying it’s in their best interest to trash it? I just figured they didn’t have enough safety data to keep it on the road that long.

It's a bit more complicated than that, and safety data to keep it on the road is something I've never heard about any vehicle before.

If they sell the car, they are required to provide parts availability and service for a minimum of ten years. With the vehicles being lease only, they retain control over the vehicle in ways that are not possible with a sale. Part of the lease stipulates if you move out of areas with authorized dealers (CA & OR), the lease terminates and you must return the car. Selling it to someone who takes it to SD or somewhere and s subsequently told they have to take it to CA for service is a PR nightmare.
Residual value on the lease is $30,012.60. Even if they would sell it, I'm not interested at that price. Total cost for the 3 years I'm renting it is $5,455.

Turned mine in at a San Diego dealer 2 Saturdays ago. Checked on HondaLink app and it is now at the recycling yard. It’s sad. Had just over 16,000 miles on it and was like new. DF5CAFC5-10C2-4B30-90B1-210D90E710B7.jpeg

Well that’s settled. We’re going to have to start stealing them like owners tried with the EV1.

You'll have to rip out the HondaLink connection so they can't find you.

  15. They still do the lease end inspection? My portable power cable got stolen and I have a sizeable scratch on the hood. If they marked it down and expecting me to pay that would be pretty f'd up since they are destroying these.

+1 to Brian's question above. When I return mine after the lease extension, what's the point of replacing the tires if they are just going to be junked anyways.

I agree it's totally pointless. I think probably now you can talk Honda financial out of it. It is ridiculous. There are some nice reps there and there are some reps who are rude and think that what they say is the law. At the end they are following whatever is shown on the computer... they don't think for themselves...it's their car they can do whatever they want. Hopefully you get a good rep to deal with
