There is a new article out with the former R&D head of one of Germany's main auto makers who was potentially in line to be CEO or head of one of their main divisions. Very good interviewer and this guy being interviewed was very likable and of course knowledgeable but then he said something that made it pointless to watch the rest of the hour plus long interview. And unfortunately the interviewer never really took him to task.

He freely acknowledged that of course many, many things should have been done differently especially including vertical integration. But then he started to try to hide behind the jobs, doing the human shield thing to try to cover for fossil fuel support. He said look we have 650K employees and we can't just cut all those jobs and families. Of course he is 10,000% right on that but then he said so what we have to do is from the ground up and our problem is software if we just do that it is not so much whether its electric or ICE. So see he straight weasels on that! So once again that is more fraud in the Diesel Gate or Hydrogen or hybrids or PHEVs or modular platforms its more attempts at their true mission critical which is to keep the fossil fuel crap going. Its more bait and switch ala Diesel Gate. Can they ever do anything honestly?

No it is not software, you can't if you're not utterly crazy try to paper over ICE with software. But that was the wink, wink, nod, nod message implicit in what he was saying. And he sought this interviewer out to push this message. Out of 650K employees could it even be 50K ice specialists because this company was a major outsourcer(?)- to the point that you wonder how they employed that many overall. Stop the dividends and the stock buy backs and support the German retirement program and give each of those non-management employees a million dollar exit package if they're late in their careers or not able or willing to move to the new electric tech. Don't hassle or shame them. They made the company, help them. It is very simple. 50 billion to write ICE off do it!!!. But that isn't what they care about, all they care about is protecting lame fossil fuel investment and hoping they can get in a position to kick the can down the road with another bait and switch and some how take back market share on that.

Another annoying part of the interview was how the interview expressed annoyances at them ramping up coal in Germany- they only did that to protect useless natural gas. Shut natural gas first and there will be no issue with coal- neither can exist without subsidies so just pull those.
