Does that mean any MINI manufactured after January will be a 2022 or any MINI ordered after January won't be built until after the model-year changeover?

Last year, the factory began manufacturing 2021 models when the factory shut-down ended in May. I would be surprised if 2022 production is starting in 12 days because MINI hasn't yet shown the new front fascia and there aren't even any good spy photos (I don't count the partially obscured spy photo on the Motoring File website as a good spy photo). At this point, we don't even know if the SE will still have its own unique aerodynamic grille.

That's the only information I have at this point. He was told the 2022 models start being produced on Feb 1st. I placed my deposit 2 weeks back and my order is still not accepted in the system on the Mini side.

That answers my question and makes it even more puzzling that MINI would start producing 2ndMMC (second minor model change--something I've never seen before) cars without bothering to reveal the changes to the public.

If this turns out to be true, it is, indeed, very odd! Am I going to get a Mini with no fog lights? Inquiring minds want to know, and my sales guy has been told nothing.

It would be baffling to me too so I am curious to know the answer on this myself.

  8. I have a question about the CID, I have the signature+ trim I would say level2 but the trim levels are different depending on the world market.
I have the 6.5" screen and it does not have the split screen function can anyone attest to that? also I cannot pre program the 1-6 buttons for different features this only presets the radio stations. I am thinking its all to do with the trim level you purchase as to what features you get anyone?. I have called Mini in the past but you end up telling them what you think is happening and they just agree with you, their help line number is 855 236 1025 if anyone needs it.

I've had much better luck getting answers on this forum than from the MINI help line.

I have an Iconic, but I've never heard that anything other than the screen size was different with the head unit--the functionality should be the same, including split-screen. When you have the nav screen up, what happens when you push the control knob to the right?

I'm old-fashioned and use the programmable buttons only to access different FM and SiriusXM stations (I'd have AM stations, too, but MINI doesn't want me to listen to AM). What features do you want to make easier to access through the programmable buttons?

The 6.5 inch cannot be split like the 8.8. That is a feature only for the larger screen.

I have never tried to program anything other than radio on the presets. I am currently Mini-less for another day so cannot try. Last I knew you just had to be on the screen you wanted and press and hold until it registers. That's been a feature for a while so I don't recall if anything changed for thr touchscreen version of the 6.5 inch.

    I have the Sig+.

The 6.5" screen does not support split-screen functions. Mini decided that it would not work well with such a small screen and I tend to agree.

You can, however, program the 1-6 preset buttons for shortcuts in addition to radio stations. I have mine programmed for shortcuts to various functions within the menus. Navigate to the function you want, then press&hold the preset button you want assigned to that function. It does not work for all functions, though. Some I've had to set it to a menu prior to the function, and then select the function manually via the touch screen from there.

  13. I like the split when in Nav with the battery capacity v the distance to destination, I get the Nav prompts on the drivers display so the small screen would not bother me that much. The preset buttons I want trip, batt/cap v dist to dest, my ipod, my phone I am sure I can think of a few more, when ever I press and hold any of the buttons it says "Not available"

If you find a setting that is "not available", have you tried going up the menu one step and trying again?

This. It's not intuitive, but you have to be in the menu "above" the function you want, and highlight the desired function. Basically the presets acts the same as selecting an item on a menu.

  16. Got it! thanks guys for stepping up with the solution I am sure I will not be the last one to fail that test.

I would still like to get split screen on the 6.5" I am sure someone will hack a software fix before long.

Update on my 2021 / 2022 model year situation. My salesguy Kevin has been very responsive to my queries, and I have tried to not bug him too often!

    1) I asked again today if my order has been assigned a production number - I was told not yet, but that they expect production numbers to be assigned next week.

    2) I also asked about 2022 trim options - specifically that I might want to change the wheels and add black trim, depending on the options. He said that he will check as soon as the build gets accepted, and that "we received a bulletin for training on the new features next week". So the sales force is getting information soon.

I finally have some closure on my order situation, although I now await acceptance in the system. I am getting a 2022 model (2021 was not an option from my Jan 6 deposit date). My salesman said he entered my order as follows:
    • Iconic, BRG, black roof and mirrors, grey leather seats
    • Wheels: the 2022 18" Pulse Spoke Two-Tone
    • The 2022 Piano Black Exterior package (no extra charge)
    • I had to pick an interior surface color, which I assume is the dash panel near the glove box: The choices were piano black, silver, or aluminum. I have only see a photo of one of them - which is the silvery color with the geometric pattern. I sent him a photo of that and said it was what I want. I'm not sure if that is aluminum or silver. He did not say.
    • Other options I added: weather floor mats, cargo mat, shorty antenna, roof rails, roof rack, and black bonnet stripes
I will report back if this config is successfully assigned a production number. Hopefully soon! I've been stressed with this entire order up in the air.

If the piano black is really no extra charge that would've been a game changer for me. As it is we are stuck after market or extra costs done after manufacturing only. But since I might delete the chrome on the beltline too better to get them all to match. Keep us posted!

Do you know if the adaptive cruise control is an option for the Iconic or standard?

No, sorry. My salesmen said that the driver assist functions and the LED lighting were included in Iconic, but I did not think to ask if they are not included in the other trims.

It's gonna be a beautiful car! May your wait be just long enough to fully appreciate its arrival.

Thank you for answering my question about whether MINI would make 18" rims available on the 2022 SE. It will be interesting to see what tires will come on those rims and if they're run-flats or not.

I assumed the "Sport Aerial" shorty antenna was now standard because all of the press-kit photos showed that antenna. I assume MINI made sure their panoramic sunroof and their roof-rack are compatible but my google search didn't find any photos of a Hardtop with both of them.
