Has anyone tried driving the plug in hybrid without any gasoline but the battery charged? I'm wondering if letting the gas tank run until completely empty is ok. Presumably the car would switch to EV-ony mode regardless of setting? I've heard driving with low gas is bad for regular cars' fuel pumps, wondering if same would apply here.

I would caution against trying that. There are many instances when the gas engine will try to turn on, no matter what mode you're in. Besides, that's an ICE, that needs to run occasionally to stay properly lubricated. The oil used is super thin so it won't keep a protective layer on metal surfaces for very long.

Thanks. I found the other threads and it looks like Honda doesn't explicitly say don't do this but I think you're right probably not a good idea if you can avoid it
