Audi, BMW, and Mercedes will not be at the 2019 Detroit NAIAS in January. In prior years, Tesla, Mini, Volvo, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Jaguar, and Land Rover have all left too. That rules out many EVs and PHEVs for attendees to see. It means I likely won’t be attending, because I don’t think it’s worth the drive to Detroit in the coldest week of winter too see what's left. For a couple of years in 2015-2017, the NAIAS had a track set up downstairs for folks to take a ride in EVs/PHEVs. That was eliminated in 2018 and the space was dedicated to showing off supercars. I’ve read they may set up a track in place of the BMW/Mercedes/Audi area in the main venue to showcase self-driving cars, but I certainly have no interest in that.
