I hope you aren't in the US because that's Thanksgiving. I suppose my countries don't celebrate Thanksgiving, though, and this group seems to be very international.

    Enjoy your new car!

In Australia so no Thanksgiving Holiday. I won't be able to enjoy it immediately, however, as I'm going to be taking it for a window tint and ceramic coating treatment.

I placed my order on Dec 21 and expect it will be a long time before delivery. I’ve seen the data on this site, showing an average of 95 days, but I wonder people’s opinions about two things that might effect it presently:
    1. UK COVID lockdown: I thought I heard someone say the UK manufacturing facility was not running during this most recent lockdown, and with the new, faster spreading variant of the virus running through the UK, it’s unclear when they may resume.
    2. Brexit: might this impact supply chains, at least? I really don’t know the impacts of Brexit, but now that the deal is effective, there may be some delays.
    Opinions?

    Hi,

As someone who lives in the UK and in the car industry (JLR), Car Manufacturing is classed as critical and not affected by the second lockdown.

As a tariff free deal has been reached, parts sourced from the EU shouldn’t be affected. If there had been a no deal Brexit, then it would have been chaos.

If there is to be a third lockdown (very likely) it’s unlikely to affect manufacturing. The only reason JLR stopped last time was due to no parts due to a full and total lockdown in Europe and then the UK whereby nobody could leave their house.

Just something to add, while the variant hit the more mainstream news, it has been around since September or so. Hopefully the UK is doing better at vaccinating than here so far, so hopefully things can look up for the UK too. Mini site still states 3 months for delivery. Should be close for me and we have a few holidays in my mix for dates which should skew numbers poorly.

Thanks, both of you! Looks like March or April should be when it arrives, then.

Thanks for this information! Good to hear it might not have an impact.

Got a call from my dealer today. He said that allocation through February was taken up. (He attributed some of that due to COVID-19). He told me that it is likely my car will not get picked for production until March, and I should expect delivery in April or May.

(For the record, this doesn't disappoint me / I'm not complaining! When I ordered it in late December, I had June in my head about when it might actually arrive, and given how I'm 100% work from home and will continue to be for an undetermined amount of this year, I don't do much driving these days.)

You'll have no trouble finding more (perhaps even non-essential) reasons to drive after your SE arrives. "Honey, I need to go out for another ethernet cable--just in case the one that's been working for years decides to fail."

I can relate to this. I'm working from home too so don't "need" to go out as much as I used to but still fine reasons to do so.

+1! Any time an errand must be run (and sometimes when there really isn't an errand), I jump at the opportunity to drive my SE. It's uniquely satisfying.

My sales guy said he would enter my order two days ago, and then send me a verification once Mini confirmed it. Still waiting...I am a newborn on the waiting spectrum! I must embody patience. Or, better yet, forget I ordered one for a few months.

I simply decide, "hey I need to go find somewhere to take photos of my car," and off I go. I end up mostly driving around, because taking photos means stopping.

Just got a call from my dealer and they said to expect my car in a week or two. It's processing for transport off the boat. I figured the holiday would cause about a week delay.

Aye, that'd be a level of torture that would reduce quality of sleep for me to be sure.

If they can really visit it: "Dear Sibling, please send me photos of my new MINI Cooper SE."

I tried to get them to drive by and this is the response I got

I've driven both those tunnels. No, hanging around the docks in the cold is not my idea of a fun afternoon.
I'm sure it has its car friends.
You want to imprint yourself as its favorite human. Bonding.

    :rolleyes::D
