    How I got my VIN:
    1. Log into MINI My Garage
    2. Select Track My MINI
    3. Add A Vehicle
    4. Enter 7-digit Production Number
    You should then see the details on your vehicle along with the VIN. Once added, you can see what stage in production it is in, as well as what features it has.

    Have people been able to get ship names out of the customer service rep by calling the number? or some other deductive method?

    status is now "at the port" for the first time...

    My dealer's sales rep emailed me a link for the ship which you can track when it's en route.

    Unfortunately, no status changes for me yet. Also, unfortunately, it takes something like 28 days for the crossing to LA. But the fun part is you can track the ship through the Panama Canal. I have a screen capture of the ship with my old Cooper S on board going through the canal, taken from one of the cams.

    You should be able to get the name of the ship from either 1-866-ASK-MINI and/or your dealership.

    If you have a lot of time on your hands, you could try my obsessive's guide for trying to figure out which ship your MINI is on.

    Seems my dealer is on it... they said they are waiting for the confirmation from the UK on boat assignment. Woot!

    That's great. I'd love to know how much of the "too much demand" is demand for the SE. I read earlier this year that one of 8 MINI Coopers was electric, but I don't know if that number included the plug-in hybrid Countryman SE along with the MINI Cooper SE.

    I wish MINI had chosen a different suffix for the MINI Cooper Countryman SE so I wouldn't have to include -Countryman when I do my daily Google search, "MINI Cooper SE" -Countryman

    I’m now dispatched from the factory! The wait for the boat begins. It’s great to think that my car actually exists now.

    I'm making a guess that the group of us that seem to be heading for Southampton docks right now are all going out on the Traviata (Wallenius Wilhelmsen Line). It leaves for the US on 9/19 and goes to Baltimore, Long Beach and Oxnard. That would be ideal anyway.

    Status update: I called ASK MINI and was talking to the rep about transport to the docks and my status changed before his eyes. Can't get any more current than that. The status is now "being assigned to a ship". Very exciting. He advised I call back next Wednesday to see if I'm on a ship. Given other's stories, this is a pretty hit and miss part of the process. Fingers crossed. For those currently somewhere in transport, I'd advise calling ASK MINI to see where you're really at.

    I'm just coming to this forum, but perhaps someone here might be able to help me understand (a) how quickly things might get resolved with our MINI Countryman SE, and (b) why the car I was sold as a 2020 vehicle shows up as a 2021 vehicle when I search the U.S. National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration for my particular VIN.

    Let me back up... Our 2020 Countryman SE arrived at the port of Baltimore on 8/3 and it's now more than a month later. We were told that a "stop sale" was placed on these vehicles and that it would be cleared up "soon." Our dealer indicated there was a problem with a charging cable on one of these vehicles and "the government" placed a stop sale, requiring all vehicles to be updated/tested in some capacity.

    I've placed "the government" in quotes because my MINI salesman and the regional sales director keep referring to things that way, which I find ridiculous. There is a specific agency, staffed with specific people, who have placed this "stop sale," and there's an orderly way in which these issues are usually resolved. "The government" is people. Just people. I have pointed this out in an effort to push things forward, but my contacts are either so far out of the loop that they don't understand how to move things forward, or there is something they are not telling me, instead blaming this delay on "the government," as if it's some black box from which cars are never released.

    Then from another MINI forum, I found out that what my dealer had been referring to as a "stop sale" was actually a recall. Apparently the welding beads may not have been removed from the battery pack, which could cause a potential fire risk. [​IMG] I think my dealer is not, um, let's be charitable and say he's not proactive. (How folks like this make a living as salespeople is beyond me, but that's a conversation for another day.) He claimed not to know about this recall. In any event, I've been told I can have a loaner for two weeks, and then "hopefully" they'll have my car by then. Hope (of course) is not a plan, so I wonder if I should have hope for a car in two weeks.

    I'm wondering (a) if anyone here knows more about this recall than I do, and (b) whether anybody can address why the car I was sold as a 2020 vehicle shows up as a 2021 vehicle when I search the U.S. National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration for my VIN. If that's true, I suppose it's not a horrible thing, but I actually didn't like the 2021 changes to the Countryman SE (digital dashboard display, black styling instead of chrome on the exterior, and Union Jack taillights), and I was told when I ordered in May that my order would be "one of the last 2020 orders" before the line was re-tooled for 2021 vehicles. Indeed, I checked my records and it was in quality control on 6/25/20, which (I believe) was before the change-over to 2021. So I'm confused as to whether I was misled. Again, not the biggest deal in the world, but just another point of terrible communication between my dealer and me (or perhaps evidence of the world's most clueless dealer).

    My dealer confirmed my MINI is at port now and waiting for the ship assignment now. I can't believe my MINI is coming home soon... so excited! waited for 3 months and everything seems happened in this week!! Fingers crossed for a quick ship assignment and on the ship ride back home...

    I added my info to the spreadsheet a few days ago :). I don't have a production number either so can't add it to My Garage. Sounds like I need to lean on my rep a bit more.

    I'm not sure that anyone in this BEV Mini SE forum is paying much attention to what is happening with the PHEV Mini Countryman SE.

    My MINI Cooper SE was to be a 2020 model built in March. Then the factory shut down due to the pandemic. After the factory re-opened in late May, my car was built in early June as a 2021 model. I believe the model-year changeover happened during the shut-down.

    I love my SE's digital instrument panel, but I'm not familiar with the Countryman PHEV's digital instrument panel to know if it's just as well laid out as the BEV's. A PHEV instrument panel would need to show more information, so perhaps it would be a bit more cluttered?

    Well, well, well...

    I was out today and physically stopped by the dealership to see if there was any info. Last communication I had was on 8/16 when I asked to confirm that my build approval had been received a few weeks prior as I hadn't heard anything - and I was told it was received and submitted.

    Lo and behold...my current status is "At the Port". So I now have my Production #, as well as my VIN. Looks as though it entered "at port" status on 9/10.

    Underpromise...overdeliver, I suppose? I am very happy to know it's moving right along...
