In other words, 'waiting for the train ride to the port.' I hope they've figured out how to get your MINI Cooper onto a ship soon after it arrives at the port. I wonder if they're giving the more expensive BMWs first priority?
would be interesting to figure out... Norbu72's is a sig+ according to the sheet... let's see if it's as quick to the boat.
For all we know, it might be which colors the stevedores like best that makes the difference in which cars get onto the boat and which cars stay at the port.
Checked my production status just now, still in the paint booth, the completion date moved to September 10 tomorrow instead of today 9th.
My iconic SE spent less than a week at the port before getting afloat, so maybe they do load based on trim level? But then the universe struck a balance by having my SE sit for three weeks in Baltimore.
I've been stalking this page for less time than many of you but hoping to lean on your experience & expertise. I confirmed my build with the dealer on June 27th. I was told they're projecting builds to be within 60 - 90 days after order is submitted. Bad on me, I don't know if that means it should start the build then or that it should be received here in that timeframe. For those who've submitted their orders more recently, how long did it take to receive your VIN? I'm hoping to receive it by EOY so I can get the $7500 tax credit for this year. Thx!
I must be right next to you Panda, I have also entered the assembly line! Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
BTW, I don’t see you Lazy Panda on the tracking spread sheet. Not sure if you just weren’t aware of it or simply opted out. Speaking of...I need to update my entry. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Norbu72, are you located in CA (LA area)? Maybe we got group together. Mine is iconic trim with enigmatic black color.
For reference, I placed my order with my dealer on July 24th, 2020 and got a build number from them on Aug 5th. Sounds like you may need to have a conversation with them and lean on them a bit. Seems the dealer experience is not consistent, and I am thankful for Seattle Mini and their competency and service.
I’m in Portland OR and I’m getting sig+ trim. Everything on the west coast goes through Port of Hueneme (Oxnard, CA). That’s probably what’s going on. Send a bunch of west coast orders through at the same time. Maybe we won’t sit on the dock for too long then. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Looks like you submitted about a month ahead of me. Are you working with Zach at MINI of Portland? I emailed him in mid-August which is when he reassured me it had been submitted right away and gave me the 60/90 timeframe.
It’s a couple topics down from this one on the main Mini SE forum. Sorry, I don’t know how to do the link. Just scroll down from this topic. I’m most often checking this site on my phone and I can’t access the spreadsheet from my phone so I haven’t updated my status for a couple days. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs

I’m working with Bradley at Mini of Portland. Unfortunately, they are not known for great customer service. I gave up on my sales rep some time ago and get my information from here, the My Mini site, and the Ask Mini phone line. It’s been frustrating getting accurate information and everyone’s experience seems to be different. I put my $500 down on July 1 and got a production number a couple weeks after that. It’s pretty exciting after you get your VIN and things start to move forward. Many of us also had to wait out the annual 3 week summer plant shutdown in August. Did you add your information to the spreadsheet? Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
