Yeah, I did not know that until these reports. I always thought China was working harder (than most countries) to try and cut their emissions (which are far worse than most countries). With their huge smog problem, you'd think they would do everything they can to encourage EV adoption. Maybe they have an electricity supply problem too, as I understand that they use mostly coal (not clean coal either) for that.
Of course they could be waiting for the Chinese built, Teslas. VW is also trying Chinese built, EVs. We'll see a true head-to-head race. Bob Wilson
