Saw the first BMW X6 that I've seen in months in SoCal in a parking structure today. Which reminded me that BMW said it wasn't hurting in the state because of the drop in its 3 Series due to a refresh (ironic) or Tesla because its SUV sales made up for it. Well that is funny because SoCal should be its largest market and I almost never see its SUV's here and I was shocked when I noticed a new X6 because it stood out. This is the absolute truth. I noticed this pattern months ago, haven't thought about it since but really nothing has changed in the intervening period.

I think BMW is flat lying and is having serious demand problems because of Tesla and so its trying to say in the media that Tesla is having demand problems. This has been part of a pattern with BMW accusing Tesla of its woes to try to cover them. But if it is over reporting its sales in the media maybe its falsifying its financial statements too? Why haven't we heard more about its Diesel Gate lately? This tactic of trying to portray your competitors strength as a weakness was something Joseph Goebbles recommended. Lets recognizes where this type of stuff comes from. I wonder why misreporting by BMW isn't more of an issues. Is it because we assume Germany practices the bad form of socialism and will just bail BMW out quietly and invisibly? Its it the firms long history of plugging along without a real challenge? I think its made the firm flabby and its shows in its increasingly gaudy and plasticky design.

Friend of mine just bought a top end 7 series and told me this week he noticed the plastic on button had paint that was wearing away and confirmed it in chat rooms. I overheard another friend some months ago telling someone else never to buy a BMW 3 series because hers was falling apart inside especially the seats. Also last week a coworker volunteered their experience from about 5 years ago with a pre-certified 1 series convertible, saying it immediately started to nickle him with repairs some of which were not covered under warranty and within 3 month he wanted to be rid of it. So I suspect all the push on Tesla quality in the media was more BMW trying to project and cover its issues. Tesla's quality is better than BMW's. Tesla has been smashing BMW at the high end for approaching a decade now, you don't do that without better quality.

BMW was just in the news last week claiming the demand for EVs was over stated and claiming EV attempt to solve a non existent problem for people. The one BMW that apparently has held to a higher quality level is the Rx series electric, presumably because BMW knew it would face higher scrutiny. But the crew that made it apparently got frustrated with BMW and left.

We seen this before with BMW. When BMW was facing country wind injunctions around the globe over the past year and a half in places like South Korea where BMWs that were parked and off would just spontaneously start ablaze in parking lots. At first BMW tried to deny this. It wasn't working. They had to do massive recalls. Ford was facing the same issue. So BMW's apparent solution was to flood with media with bs stories about Teslas catching firm until Nassim Taleb of Black Swan long tail fame- a mathematician statistician literally went on record calling these claims against Tesla obvious BS and questioning the media for pushing this crap- wonder if he would be surprised to find out the source of this stuff was BMW and the usual suspects.

Now presumably and ironically state side BMWs are having trouble with the polar votex so predictably BMW is pushing a line of bs that says Teslas are having trouble with the cold. This is surprising since by percentage Tesla's most successful markets have been the Tudra because of superior cold weather performance, notice all the coverage of the Model 3 performance in snow. And get real Tesla's don't need a block heater and range has clearly not been an issue and do we really believe the bs implication that Kansas and most of the US now will be a bigger cold weather problem for Tesla than the Northern latitude countries where Tesla has dominated because of cold weather performance. Supposedly the doors are sticking shut on Teslas- someone might want to check to be sure this isn't actually a BMW issue and its not BMWs that are failing in the cold weather despite being designed in Germany.

When I heard Trump earlier talking about levying tariffs on German luxury cars I thought oh this is them asking him for cover over what Tesla is doing to them on demand.

All this said Tesla should take a look to make sure no one is trying to sabotage internal
data for demand or actually cancelling orders, this make sense given the past attempts at sabotage and BMW's pattern in the media of trying to pass of its problems as Tesla's.
Should also look for a connection between BMW and some of the shorts and possibly see if it can go after BMW for some of this stuff and at least expose it in the media- a Diesel Gate offender using these tactics on a green brand might get appropriate ire in Germany in particular- because its more of the same like lie to the public about emissions- scam them that way.
