During the retail investor questions, one asked if the 4680 would have a faster charging rate. The answer, 'Lithium plating' limits the charging rate. So the answer for faster charging is to switch the battery cells into groups that can increase the charging voltage while holding the maximum current the same. For example: 100 cells in a pack might take 400VDC @100A = 40kW 50 + 50 cells in series might take 800VDC @100A = 80kW 25 + 25 + 25 + 25 cells in series might take 1600VDC @100A = 160kW A 4x charging speed increase is significant.
