  1. Plenty of room for mice to get in and make a home in your cabin filter. When the garage door is set to close in the closed position, parts become stressed when denied that opportunity. Interestingly, when we had our garage door and vintage opener examined and serviced last year, the technician advised having the opener repaired should it ever fail. Usually a new gear. The new ones apparently don’t last 20-30 years like the old ones.

A little late to the party here, but if you're still looking for a solution we've made a product for just this! It's called UNDOR and lets you run your charging cables, garden hoses, extension cords under your garage door while it's shut. Check it out here: www.undorgarage.com

Sorry, but this device leaves the garage door crooked when closed resulting a in a gap for sure unless you add additional foam or something.

A few pieces of 2x4 with a gap for the cable to go through is much simpler, easier, and cheaper, even after the surge in wood prices.

Take a look at our website - undorgarage.com. You'll see that we ship UNDOR in pairs, one for each side of the door. This allows the door to stay level once closed, and the gap is filled in by a replacement door seal.

Our garage door has a fairly thick rubber gasket on the bottom of the door. I just out a section wide enough for the cable. It does not pinch the cable at all. You could go further and trim the wood an eighth of an inch to provide more clearance.
