Hi all, I've been waiting for my 2020 Clarity here in Canada since I ordered it in August! It's been forever but my car is finally at port in Vancouver. I was wondering what you all recommend for prep. I've ordered Tuxmats, and the pack of rubber mats for the storage areas so far. I'm going to test the audio system and may replace the front speakers with JL Audio if I'm not satisfied (it looks like the rear tweeters are hard to replace and I don't really care about rear occupant sound quality, haha). I also heard it is good to check for the sound deadening plugs on the bottom of the vehicle after PDI. Anything else that you think is a good thing consider? I'm so excited to join the club with my pearl white Touring with black interior! Thanks all.

"pearl white Touring with black interior" - same as mine. Ordered in December, finally delivered week ago in Toronto.
Did not get too much - tuxmats, clarity screen, tint, dashcam, 50A circuit and L2 evse in the garage.
3D printed phone holder as well (why they still make cars without a mount for a phone holder???)
Never heard about the plugs - what are they?

Some rubber plugs going on the underbelly of the car. There is some thread about them with pictures on this forum but I'm too lazy to look for it.

Congratulations, welcome to the club, and get ready to enjoy the savings and not having to go to the gas station all the time.
I think you got the main one in a decent mud/snow catching mat as the OEMs don’t have good coverage. Other access. are more according to personal preference so I won’t add a list of all the ones I spent $ on
I will give you a couple of suggestions:
    1. Immediately, clean the exterior and get a good coat of quality wax on it. Mine came without a decent waxing. I won’t suggest brand or type (syn vs carnuba, etc) so as not to start WWIII or get into the “ my wax can beat up your wax”. Just get the protection on that new from the factory, mostly bare paint before it’s too late.
    2. Always keep a jug of windshield washer fluid in your garage since the reservoir is very small and you’ll be refilling it much more often than in your old car. I highly recommend buffing some form of hydrophobic coating on the windshield like RainX and adding it to the WW fluid. This will go a long way on helping the rather anemic amount of fluid the WWs apply directly from the blade instead of a spray from the hood. Another hint is that you have to hold the WW wash position for a longer time than you are probably used to in pest to get the windshield cleaned.
    3. If you want a paper copy of the manual, you will have to order it within a few months of purchase to get it for free. It will cost you if you wait.

I attached a copy of the Clarity specific PDI which has a lot of good info including the plugs that supposedly help w sound deadening.

    1. OEM mud guard flaps. Pretty easy to install.

    2. OEM tray mat. Goes in under the gear selector, front of the 12V plug area.

    3. Screen protector for the infotainment system. It scratches easily with paper towel and even micro fiber cloth. I'm just going to use it without screen protector since it already has scratches.

    4. Clear film for paint protection. Get at least the 6" or even 12" width that goes across the front of the hood.

I also have the TuxMat for the front and back. A cheap mat in the trunk.

I went with the full set of Weathertech mats and trunk liner - Tuxmats aren't readily available in the "lower 48". I wholeheartedly recommend the tray mat for under the center console - especially if you plan to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. You might also consider a silicone license plate frame for the rear plate - my plate rattled and buzzed before I got one.

Congratulations on you Touring. I didn't know the Canadian version in white had black interior that must look awesome. I agree with getting some type of quality wax on the car. Being in Canada, you may not want tiny, but a good quality tint helps protect the inside and looks nice on our cars. Cheers.

Just remember, it's not like you need these things before the car gets to your place. Why not drive it around for a while and figure out what you want and not want.

I didn't do anything other than go to dealer and came home with the car, the had put different floor mats in, that's it.

  11. Test the horns and decide if they are loud enough. I replaced ours after being repeatedly ignored even with the horn "blaring" constantly.

Tint. We had clear heat blocker put on the windshield. We did it for the Las Vegas sun, but I also think it might help with stopping a crack. Or at least stopping it from spreading.

Nice! How are you enjoying it at the tail end of winter? Which L2 EVSE did you get?

Thanks, I'll remember the windshield fluid especially.

I think that the car might come standard with mud guards in Canada (possibly added by dealer). Most cars here come with mud guards.

I bought the CupHolderHero set of mats. It seems good, I just got it today.

I probably won't get a screen protector, never have, I'll accept it as it is lol. Probably touch it as little as possible :)

Ya, I've been debating the 3m, wouldn't you want it all the way up the front bumper?

I'd heard about ceramic coatings too...

For sure, that's definitely the plan with the sound system and a few other things.

Good to know about the horns! I shouldn't need a heat blocker where I live in Northern Canada. It was recently -40F. Haha

One thing about level 2 charge port. I know there are tax rebates to help with cost but since I have access to free level 2 charging near my home, i never installed one. I find that 99 percent of the time my level 1 works great for me here in southern Arizona since I don't usually drive more than 45 miles in a day I just plug in at bed time and it's ready the next morning. The advantage i see for level 2 charging is in colder climates like Canada is You get less ev range in the winter due to heater use and you can use the climate preconditioning only with level 2 or if the the car is not plugged in. I feel more comfortable using my level one because it allows the ev battery cooling system to work for longer periods of time in hot weather during the longer charge cycle. Even if I had a level 2 charger at my home I would sometimes opt to go level 1 if I'm not in a big hurry for a gentler charge. Although I'm not trying to stir people up who prefer level 2 all the time as a matter of convenience. One other note- no spare tire but a compressor equipped with sealant. I have a spare I take on longer trips. I don't reccomend using sealant unless you can't avoid it because it gets into the noise reducers on the wheels. There are threads on this forum giving more details.

I just bought a 20 Clarity Touring. I've always replaced my horns with air horns, but the last couple of times they didn't seem much louder. What exactly did you have put in your Clarity, and how much louder is it? Many people are so busy texting that a car horn is just a distant nuisance.

    Hi Hoon -

    1. I just got a 20 Clarity Touring. What's involved with installing the mud flaps? Do you have to drill holes? Adhesive tape?

    2. Does somebody make a screen protector for the infotainment tablet that is pre-cut to exact dimensions?

    Thanks!

  17. Replacing horns.

I learned a couple of things during this install.
    1. Be careful with the "pop-up" clips. Especially the ones around the rubber vent towards the back of the cover panel. Mine had a tendency to break pretty easily. Make sure your under the inner lip using the two slots cut out of the bottom half. Man I hope that makes sense!
    2. I just lifted up on the cover across the front and the clips popped loose. I noticed some tabs on the cover that inserted in slots under there that kept the cover from sliding.
Picture 1: Note the slot next to the hole. The connectors go into that hole and the slot is open to the back on the cover piece. The tab goes in the slot and stops the cover from sliding.
Picture 2: The slot in the bottom of the cover that the connectors sit in.
Picture 3: The tab on the bottom of the cover that goes in the slot in picture one.
Picture 4: I tried to get a good picture of the clip at the ends of the rubber piece that runs across the front, but the camera refused to focus on it. I've outlined it in the picture. Sort of like an arrow head. Squeeze it and it comes out. I had to use pliers because of big fat fingers, but it was easy.
Picture 5: I removed connectors from these and did not need to. There were four.
Picture 6: A good picture of the hole/slot combination the cover connects to and the larger ones I did not need to remove the plugs from
The horn installation was pretty straight forward. The connection cable on the right one is a bit hard to reach. The ones I bought were a snug fit, but a bit of tweaking and they went in.
    They sound great!

They come with everything needed to install.
The adapters are from College Honda and you need two of them.

Thanks, I'm glad to be here (this forum wasn't easy to find). Right you are! I should have thought to search "mud flaps" separately. Nobody mentions drilling, so they must not be very hard to install.

I’m with you on the “meep meep”, Road Runner cartoon horns being way too wimpy to be functional. Here a link to my thread on installing an air horn.
Combine it with @Tek_Freek ‘s post with the great removal tips and you will find it’s an easy mod, especially if you buy the Honda horn connection adapter.

    https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/installing-a-150-db-air-horn-can-you-hear-me-now.5774/

PS: The better of the cheap ones I bought is still going strong after over 2 years.

PPS: I have some spare pop up connecters if you break any of those. If you need any just let me know the size.
