Just took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation at 38,000 mi. When I picked up my car, the MM came on with message "Maintenance is due in 3 months" This is the problem...the reminder will not go away. Even the dealership cannot make it go away. Then they claimed this was normal. But I've never had this pop up constantly before. They went into settings and "MAINTENANCE" and tried to delete everything but the reminder will not go away. They said I just need to delete this message every time I start my car. Well - it's there and I can delete it but it still pops up constantly. Has anyone else had this problem? The dealership keeps telling me it's normal on all Claritys! I've had my car for 38,000 mi and almost 2 years. This is NOT NORMAL!
Option 1: Software glitch. Option 2: They intentionally did not reset it hoping you'll come to them for non-warranty service more often.
I have an extended warranty up to 75,000 mi so it's still under warranty. And it probably is a software glitch! They're looking to see if there's a new update. What a PAIN!
You can also try resetting the MM yourself. See page 479 of th US manual. Go to the wrench icon Press enter Press and hold enter button for ~10 s This will enter reset mode Press up or down buttons to sect a maintenance item to reset or select All Due Items. Press enter to reset the selected item Cancel to end Lather, rinse, and repeat as needed. Let us know if this fixes the problem. It’s insane that any dealer would tell you that you have to deal with this every single time you start that car and that it’s normal.
But the reminder said that maintenance is due in 3 months... Even with reset the maintenance may be due in 3 months. Is there a setting to decide how far out the reminder should show up? Mine only shows if maintenance is due in 3 weeks. Can I turn off the reminder that I get for 3 weeks?
I have never had the MM indicate service in 3 months immediately after I have reset it the offending item. Are you sure the correct item has been reset?
I would reset the tire rotation ONLY and see if that fixes the problem. Try to reset the tire rotation ONLY, I think that will solve the problem.
