Hi. The Niro EV's lights are adequate for urban areas, but we live in rural areas with winding mountainous roads and the side visibility sucks. Has anyone fitted additional driving lights to the Niro EV?
Good point! It is a EX 455. We don't have as much choice in NZ as the USA/Europe: EX 289 or EX 455. https://www.kia.co.nz/vehicles/niro-ev/
Hmmm, Do you have LED headlights? I was driving in a dark place tonight and I find them very powerful. I know another user here shows how to replace with LED's but I imagine your came with them?
We have the halogen lights which are better. The problem is that the Kia seems optimized to put as much light as possible on the pavement in front of you and the lack of any light to the sides makes it hard driving on unlit winding mountain roads. Hence some extra driving lights would be nice ... but not sure if possible.
I am a bit surprised. I am in Canada, I have the SX Touring that includes LED headlights and even with the low beam setting it lights everything up and in high beam mode in a rural area it throws light very far. I would suggest you look into getting the LED headlights from Kia. They must have them as after purchase items.
I find the same and I also get the occasional high beam from another car because they just love my bright lights
Chris- I encourage you to check out the LED headlight bulb replacement options and LED versus halogen bulbs in general. I think you will see that there is essentially universal agreement that LEDs provide a superior light quality relative to halogen crisper, brighter, lower electrical power, longer life; etc. And to top it off high quality LED bulbs can be purchased for less than $40 for a set of two.
