Yes price please, I realize it's probably paid for by insurance but if so if you don't mind calling the shop (or dealer) and asking what the price was. Also the model number of the windshield, even assuming it's OEM, which should be somewhere on the lower edge, hopefully visible. If not visible than maybe it's on the paperwork, or again the dealer or shop can tell you. This may seem trivial but as time goes on I can almost guarantee we are going to be discussing model numbers of windshields, because it can make a difference. If later someone has a problem with say wind noise they can at least know if they got the same model windshield as others so they know if it's the windshield itself or an installation issue. And when getting a windshield replaced it's a good idea to make a note of the old model number and see if they install the same model number. There may be a legitimate reason for a different number (old model discontinued etc) but still it's worth knowing, and asking about. A noisy windshield or a distorted one can be pretty hard to ignore. Not sure if we will ever have non-OEM windshields available considering the low volume, but if so that's when model numbers really get important.

I have heard about 'calibrating the camera' after replacing windshields from many cars with the forward facing cameras like our Clarity's. Did they have to go thru any extra steps? A co-workers Mazda needed a trip to the dealer.

I haven't driven it yet, so no knowledge of if the camera is even working. We did check the wipers for proper alignment and function. They had an issue with the mount of the camera - it seems that the clip that holds it to the windshield mount was bent slightly and they had to bend it another way to get the camera unit to click into the windshield mount.

I'll see what I can find out on the paperwork / actual price of the windshield & part number.

I looked at my windshield, the info is visible in the lower corner driver side, see photo. Honda logo but made by AGC Automotive, Lamisafe is their trademark name. Model number is M8341. Safelite has been licensed in the past to manufacture and sell AGC windows under AGC's AP Tech brand name, so maybe we will eventually have a non-OEM glass available through Safelite, even if Pilkington never makes one.

I don't see anywhere that it says it is acoustic and no "ear" symbol, but maybe 10A is an AGC identifier for acoustic, as I can't imagine we don't have acoustic windshields.

Looking at some earlier posts the price is about $1,500 and calibration takes it up to around $2,000. Of interest to those of us who don't live in a state with 0 deductible for windshields.

In an earlier thread in this forum someone said Safelite claimed they could calibrate, but then couldn't, so after installation they took it to the dealer for calibration and the dealer billed Safelite.

I took it for a test run. LKAS seems to work ok. No calibration done. I'll be doing 80+ miles tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.

If necessary, I can have a dealer do whatever magic needs to be done.

Are you sure calibration wasn't included? You may want to ask. If it's included I would have it done because it may not be possible to tell just from driving how precise the calibration is. Then again if it's not included and you would have to pay $500 or something, well I guess you would have to use your best judgment whether you think it's needed.

It appears that I won't need calibration. Everything is working just as before. I've done over 150 miles since replacement, and all is well.

Recently had a rock hit my windshield right on the frame. I looked when it happened and didn't see anything (as it was hidden from the interior) so thought it just bounced off without damaging the windshield. After a few days, I hit a large pothole and the crack spread down and is now migrating across my windshield. It will be covered by insurance but I will have to pay the 500$ deductible. I am getting it done at my Honda dealer as I don't want to mess around as it is still under warranty and I don't want to give them a reason to void it. They had to order the windshield from Montreal (I am in Ottawa) and it will take a week to get here. They also said that the camera calibration will be done and is mandatory. I was told it would take from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM to complete the repair and camera calibration. I asked why and they said because they had to remove the old windshield carefully, scrape the sealant from around the frame, put the new sealant, put the new windshield, then wait 2 hours for it to set. After the two hours they need to calibrate the camera. It will probably be around 2k. Ill update when I finally see the bill.

A family friend who is the manager of a Honda/Toyota/Lexus dealership told us that they have been seeing this happen more often with the Clarity. He said this is due to the wind tunnel effect the body creates at high speeds that seems to pick up small debris from the road and throw it over the vehicle.

Don't make the same mistake as me and not inspect the windshield from the outside after hearing debris hit the window. It would have saved me 500 bucks if I would have caught it when it was just a pit (as pits smaller than a loonie/toonie are cheaply repaired or covered by insurance at no extra fee).

I could post pics if anyone is interested in the location of the rock hit. If it was literally 1 inch higher I would have been fine...

    That's a U.S. quarter for us yanks

    5176933.jpg

    U.S. Quarter 24 mm
    Loonie 26.5 mm
    Toonie 28 mm

By the way we also use quarters to measure tread depth, it's 4/32 to the top of Washington's head and 2/32 inch to the top of Lincoln's head

I didn't realize you use Canadian nickel's for this, 2/32" to the top of Queen Elizabeth's crown. Although I guess you have to find an older coin for this

I read the PHEV Clarity car review from this website associate motor1 dot com, and it made no mention of any cameras. What is the function of the camera and how many cameras does the car have?

I think the car has 3 cameras: 1 on the windshield, one on the driver's side mirror, and one on the trunk.

There is also a radar behind the big "H" on the grill.

Does anyone know of any others?

You meant one on the passenger's side mirror.

Most new cars have a camera. It is part of the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist as well as emergency braking package. The Clarity also has a radar behind the front Honda badge.
