I have been driving the car (US SEL version) for almost a week now. Everything has been great so far. Except since the last couple of days when I start the car, a low volume alarm sounds for a few seconds then goes off. Anyone experienced this? No warning lights came up but I'm really curious. It definitely was not there the first few days. I searched the manual but could not find anything about this.

Are you parked close to something in front or behind? It could be the proximity sensors.

I think I heard the alarm even when I parked in an open space, but I'll keep an eye/ear on it tomorrow.

  5. What does it sound like? I have a sound that I'm unable to identify. It's a squeeky sound that I now feel like it is some kind of alarm.

Mine is a high to low pitch. I now think it's an alarm because when I first heard it it was only once but today it "went off" 4 times about 5 seconds right after starting the car.

I now noticed that my washer fluid is low and maybe that's what it wants from me, but I'm sure it was there before it was low.

  8. Really weird, when I just started it, it did it again five times. It must be really wanting to tell me something. It's almost like our dog that starts "talking to us" when he wants something after we played with him and he had food and a walk. Trying to find out what he wants.

I'll top of the washer fluid later to rule that out.

Would BlueLink health report show anything?

I checked that and it says all systems normal.

I googled and came up with 3 possible things that other brands of ev's have had odd alarms: 1) key fob battery issue so try other key fob 2) 12 volt battery discharging 3) tire pressure is needing attention. Might be all wet, but worth looking at if all else fails.

Thanks! I'll try the other key fob and see. I had checked the tire pressure yesterday so that's good.

Same issue with the other key. However the alarm did not come once today, and that was when I parked in an empty parking lot. So it may be some kind of proximity sensor as Canada Dan mentioned above. I'll test this out again tomorrow.

  16. Not sure, I just tried both key fobs and it only did it the first time, then not with either fob. Was parked in the garage, so I don't think it's a proximity thing.

Key fob battery would make more sense since it isn't doing it if you get into the car after just a couple minutes.

But then, usually those batteries last at least a year or so, why would it be low already?

I hope we'll be able to solve that mistery, sooner than later

About a week ago I had trouble with the car not wanting to start until I used my fob being held up to the start button, and then it wouldn't recognize the fob. I wondered if I had a weak battery in the fob. Haven't had that situation again.

  18. So, I stopped by the dealership today to check on that sound. They have no clue but they'll check it tomorrow.

Here is a short video of the sound I took, since it doesn't do it all the time. This way you can check if it's the same sound.

Sorry but that noise sounds like the firefight in the prison wing of Star Wars. Pew pew pew. Between that and the VESS I’m thinking there are some Star Wars fans in the Kona Electric designer staff.

  20. Haven't heard that one myself. It sounds like an actual theft alarm. Are you perhaps locking the door with the fob AFTER you enter the car? It's my understanding that you can inadvertently arm the alarm that way if I'm recalling correctly.

Lol yes, that exact same sound. Still a mystery

  22. Ok, so my Hyundai Dealer/Service has no clue what that alarm is. They said they will keep researching ...

Maybe you can check with your dealer as well?

Kind of frustrating. But I'm not surprised somehow.

Do you have the US or Canada version of the car? I wonder if this issue is only with the US version.
