Thank you! I know it’s a tight space so I appreciate you doing that. I’ll take a look for it today and see what I come up with. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Okay! So, looks like my dealership here in Canada is pretty on the ball with the Clarity. Plugs installed, tires at correct pressure, and battery charged on delivery. We do require front plate installation here so that may have contributed. What they DID miss (bizarrely) was filling up the washer fluid reservoir. Got a low fluid warning after about 9 days. Haha I did. And this was also pointed out to me by the dealership when I brought the oversight to their attention. They kindly refilled it for me and the mechanic remarked about the low capacity (but did acknowledge that they clearly neglected to fill it before delivery). Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Your picture shows one large oval hole with a plug in it, and I understand that this hole is the subject of the post. But I also see three smaller, round holes with plugs in them. My car doesn't have plugs in ANY of these holes. Are the smaller, round holes supposed to be plugged?
And for those who don't check at the dealership because they are in nice clothes or the ground is wet, there is no need to get on the ground. Just bend down and take a video with your phone (slowly passing the phone back and forth under the car, with the lens pointed up, in the appropriate area). Then play back the video and you can see if the plugs are there.
Does anybody have the part number for the plugs? Since I don't live near my dealer, I had them mail the plugs to me. The ones I received were too small (they won't stay in the holes).
Would you believe that my Clarity came with exactly 3 plugs installed and the other hole unplugged? Seems strange to me . . . why not finish the job and install all four?
The dealer actually asked me for the part number. They really are clueless about the clarity. It is 90852-TRT-A01
Someone else said that their dealer installed the plugs in the similarly shaped holes just in front of the rear bumper. You might check if that's where the missing one wound up.
Yep, plugs were installed, but tires pressure was 50psi though... didn't realize till a few days later.
What's the tire pressure supposed to be? Some of you are saying it was at 50? Mine is around 38/40 depends what I'm checking it with. Haven't checked to see if the plugs are installed will do that later, for those of you who got them installed later. Did you notice a difference in noise?
Hybrid owners are notorious for overinflating their tires to improve mpg. I used to follow the crowd on that also until I read that even a few pounds of overinflation will noticeably increase stopping distance. The data seemed convincing enough that I now just stick with what's on the door jamb.
Son I'm guessing the 50 psi is some sort of delivery/transport pressure and their supposed to lower it before handing over the keys
I'm not your son, but yes. This quote is from the pre-delivery inspection document, 17-093. "10. Set the Tire Pressures Set the tire pressures according to the driver’s doorjamb label. Make sure the tires are at the same temperature as the outside air when checking and setting the pressures." It's just after the instructions for installing the noise plugs, so if they didn't install the plugs they almost certainly did not check the tire pressure. "8. Install the Body Plugs Install the body plugs as shown. These plugs are part of the noise-reduction package and play a big part in reducing road noise."
I keep the psi at 38. Only slightly more without any adverse stopping consequence. I do it as a little more cushion against rim damage on bad potholes, especially as there is no spare. My plugs were not installed and honestly I did not notice much of a difference in sound after installation.
It may also decrease the mileage you get from a set of tires. 2lb over may be insignificant, but in general overinflation will cause the tread to wear excessively in the middle. That could more than offset the small gain in mileage obtained.
Pretty pathetic experience here in Houston TX at Honda of Clear Lake. No plugs install and argument ensued about PDI--not provided. Battery check only done on 12volt battery . Felt I was speaking a foreign language to sales and service about the 'high voltage battery'--they had no idea what I was talking about. Need to find out how to get these plugs..... Car is great though....
