You can post about any unlisted manufacturer in the "Other EVs" section. Once a topic or brand is discussed often in that section, we will dedicate a new forum/section to it
Yes. Shouldn't there be a "forums" link in the top menu of the front page (home, compare ev's, charge guide, monthly sales scorecard, etc)?
Inside EVs has a link to the Forums now, though it may not appear with some ad blocking software. We are working on a more permanent solution.
Seriously? Just do it. We are talking about the largest EV manufacturer and the manufacturer with the highest percent of plug-in sales of traditional western manufacturers. You can remove Ford and a number of other useless companies.
Ahh, OK. What about linking news articles to specific forums for discussions/comments instead of continuing with the comments section (and its limited editing capability) below each main page news article? The news article would be post #1. On other sites, I frequently see unnecessary forum threads on questions that are answered by the news article.
Excellent suggestion. I'm not sure if our current news platform can accommodate that, and I don't think we'd want to take away the comments section below articles. I would definitely like to have something along these lines, though--an easy way to jump to an expanded conversation about the topic on the Forum. Will discuss with my compadres.
I have looked into developing a forum/comment section widget to connect to each article. Linking comments with forums is an idea on our radar, but nothing out there to easily implement at the moment.
It's a pain to access the "New Posts" link from a touch interface (iPad). You have to touch "Forums" then hit the little arrow that appears to the right, then hit New Posts. Given that "New Posts" is probably one of the most frequently used functions, a direct link to it on top of the main page would be nice.
As soon as I saw that a Forum had been created (HOORAY!!), my immediate thought was that the extended discussions that sometimes pop up in article comment threads would be far better served by an actual forum. I hope that InsideEVs will encourage that by having some sort of button to click, when posting a comment to such a thread, which will move the post over to this forum. It would also be helpful if this would auto-populate a post in the discussion thread that had some sort of boilerplate announcement like "THIS DISCUSSION SUB-THREAD IS CONTINUED ON THE INSIDEEVS FORUM", with an appropriate link.
Re "Edit" feature: I see that we can edit our posts for a short time after posting, but apparently this ability disappears after a few minutes. 1. What is the time limit on editing? 2. It would be helpful if there would be a small "Edited" tag which appeared at the top or bottom of edited posts, as an alert to the reader. FaceBook uses "Edited" tags like that.
Speaking of posts in comment threads following articles... why has the ability to post to the article announcing the creation of this forum had comments cut off? I'd love to make a "HOORAY!!" post there!
EDIT!!!! WE HAVE EDIT!!! Sorry, we have only been waiting 5 years or so. You think I would have just gotten better at proofing my comments.
