Hi, new to the forum. Thank you for this post! I'm super interested in learning more about tue buyback details. can you PM me with any helpful hints? I have a 2018 Bolt and I was having battery problems before the recall even happened. My range was way lower than advertised and I had a cell of my battery replaced but that wasn't a good fix because it started again after it was replaced. I'd love buy back info and to hear about the 2022 swap you seem to have on deck!

    Hello,

I’m new and for the life of me can’t find the PM function. I need help/insight regarding my 2017. They reduced the capacity and still have yet to provide the remedy fix. It’s so frustrating. Could you possibly PM me? Thanks.

  4. There are a couple ways to send someone a direct (or personal) message. You can click on their name below the little avatar box to the left of their post. A pop up should appear with a few different options. One of them is "Start a conversation."
Or, go to the top right of the page and click on "Inbox." On the next screen, choose "start a conversation."

My non-recall 2019 already got the software update at the dealer - surely it's fully available for all cars now?

Holli -- you actually had *one cell* replaced? I.e. the dealer techs dropped the pack out of the car and
opened it up? My impression is that most of them are rather unwilling to get into things to that level,
or aren't tooled up to... maybe GM is different?

Hi! Yes they replaced one cell (at least that's what I recall them telling me) lol. It was better for a few days and then boom crap again. Then the pandemic kept me not driving as much but its still a HUGE issue. My full charge start used to be 238 and now it's 142. When i do commute its 90+miles round trip....so I do have an SR# and an assigned rep who i was talking to now knows I want the buyback if it's available...fingers crossed, but now I don't know what to get next when my buyback gets approved!!!

They had my car for more than 3 weeks to fix it...just under the 30 days really.

  11. Only 142 miles! That's seems like a 40% loss which would make it eligible for replacement under warranty. But, if you want to go the buyback route, that may be good too. Please let us know how it works out for you.

    Hi Bolt owners,
Thanks to everyone for posting this info! I started the buy back process about three weeks ago. After submitting my paperwork (2017 Bolt), the rep. responded this week: 'Your case has been transferred to the District Manager of Aftersales'. Can anyone tell me what happens next? Will they offer a new Bolt?

    Alex 808,

You will get a call from someone else now. When they ask what you want to do, choose VIN Swap if you want a new Bolt. they will calculate the buyback offer and subtract that from the cost of the new Bolt.

I got an offer of $28K for my 2019 with 45,000 miles, and I ended up turning it down. If I was gonna swap, I only wanted a 22 EUV, and none were available at the time. I did some math, and for me not having an EV for a few months made it not worht it. Of course if used car prices plummet, then I'll be sorry I didn't take it.

Thanks Mark. This is really helpful and disappointing. I would want the EUV as well but I don't want to pay out of pocket.

  16. Just checking. Anybody else try or thinking about trying to get GM to buy back their cars after these latest post-recall fires?

Hi. I just joined and I am totally freaked out about the fire risk. I have a 2018 Bolt and just began a dialog with GM this week. I want them to buy back the car, not sure what the requirements are for GM to buy back the car. I have not done the recall yet, it is scheduled for this week even though cars are still catching on fire. Any advice on how to navigate the process of a buyback or transfer to a new Bolt?

  18. Hi, Deb.
According to this post in the Bolt EV recall thread, GM was doing some buybacks. The post also outlines the other options that were being offered.
To arrange a buy back, you would have to call the Chevrolet EV Concierge line 1-833-EVCHEVY (1-833-382-4389). That's their dedicated customer support team, and available Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 7:00pm EST.

Hello, I just spent 20 minutes waiting on the concierge line to get someone then they told me after checking my VIN that my 2019 was NOT part of the recall. The letter I got from GM advising me to get the diagnostics update was just because it was great software, not to specifically monitor the battery. I checked my VIN multiple times in the months before now and it came up in the recall. Something smells fishy here. Anyway they wouldn't process my request. I asked what the cutoff date of manufacture was for the recall and was told it wasn't information that could be shared with me. I've got a lease so eventually I'll get out of it but this is ridiculous.

Hi everyone! I tried before to get a buyback and was turned down because I got on the buyback train too late and the fix came through. But....as soon as I heard about the new recall, I asked to have my case reevaluated and I'm happy to share I've now been approved for a buyback!! So question, anyone here that has been through the buyback, can you tell me how the payout is really factored? And I suggest thst if you have been turned down before and want the buyback, try again NOW! It worked for me! Hopefully it can work for you too!
