  1. The Audi Q4 E-Tron, and Sportback version, have just made their official debut and they look, well, very much Audi-like. Fancy!
You might think of them as a very nice VW ID. 4 -- they're about the same size -- but they have completely different sheet metal on the outside and a completely different interior on the inside.

    Here's the Q4 E-Tron:

    And here's the Sportback:

The interior is just a completely different vibe from the VW -- very sporty, with the center screen integrated in to the dash. Those seats and that steering wheel!

Here's a video from Audio talking about the design:

Clearly the interior is several levels above the ID.4, but the Q4 exterior design is more busy than needs to be. Glad to see the AWD / two-motor is now officially designated for 0-60 in 6.3 sec.

This is the first non-Tesla I am considering for a test-drive to upgrade my Audi A3 etron PHEV at some point.

  6. I agree! I don't mind the exterior styling, but I think they got a little carried away with the "character" creases on the side. Inside looks really great to me, though.

Exactly! I think they let exterior designers loose longer than they should have. The interior is classic Audi, real classy!

Agree, the Q4 50 will be cross shopped with the ID.4 Pro S AWD. If the price difference is within $5K, then I’ll need to see the Q4 in the flesh before I decide. Audi fan, had an A6 and an A4 6-cylinder 5 speed manual (one of the best sticks I ever owned).

The interior is beautifully crafted. The exterior doesn't look bad also though I would replace the rims with a more sporty style like the hd wheels.

After much consideration, I decided to go with the Audi Q4 RWD instead of the VW ID.4 AWD. it seems that the RWD Q4 has a lighter feel/steering and much smaller turning circle. The interior is much better with physical switches compared to haptic switches in the ID.4.
They better get it to the US before end of year (for tax purposes).

Did Audi announce the US price list for the Q4 yet?

  13. No prices yet, but as soon as they come in, I'll try to post them on the forum here.
Another advantage of going Audi over VW, the suspension should be tuned better. The ride in the ID.4, I thought, was just ok. I expect much better from Audi.

I am waiting for them to show up at my local Audi dealer ... I will definitely give it a try. Would go for the AWD however, too much winter in Colorado :)

Understand AWD requirement in Colorado. I’m still struggling with FWD vs AWD in Florida, and I’m not averse to 90 more hp on the AWD. My concern with the AWD is that it may require larger wheels options (20” or 21”) that means even less range and comfort; would rather spend it on other spec options on the RWD …… we shall see. The dealer is not expecting pre-ordering setup this time around, but you can order one when Audi opens the configurator.

No prices listed for Canada yet , but only interested in what base model Q4 etron RWD will be as not liking so much gloss black in ID4.

Managed to communicate with someone in the UK who has both Q4 35 & 40 and thinks the 35 drives better than the 40 (lighter car). He indicates that for the RWD 40, acceleration is excellent for both merging and accelerating at speed on the M1 motorway (~ US interstate system). Other drivers indicate daily mixed driving (city & highway) in the Q4 40, the range exceeds 300 miles …… stop & go driving probably. Still a cone of silence from Audi regarding US delivery.

At the Audi dealer yesterday and was told there are no communications from Audi regarding the Q4. Also, there are zero allocations of Q4 to the dealer for the remainder of the year. Could be Audi going with individual customer orders, rather than dealer allocation sales model.

Meanwhile, the VW dealer is expecting three AWD ID.4 customer orders to arrive late October for November delivery.

Prices are out for the Q4 on Audi website (9/21/21). You can configure the car with options, but no ordering yet. You can generate an Audi Code for your configuration and use that if you order.

What I find interesting is that people complained that VW didn't bring us all of the options that a European top-trim ID.4 has - things like the HUD or the 360 degree camera. For a long time, I have speculated that their plan was to reserve those kinds of options for the Audi brand, and it looks like I was right.
