I totally agree with that sentiment. While I'm anxious to get my SE in a timely fashion, my daily commute is 0 miles for the foreseeable future because I'm truly fortunate that I can work from home. The Wallenius Wilhelmsen site does indicate they are operating at reduced capacity due to COVID-19, but doesn't otherwise indicate hardship. I guess that masking is to be expected for the public-facing web site.
I'm now imagining a giant parking lot so packed with BMWs and MINI Coopers that shipping is now a last-in/first-out situation because it's too hard to get to the older cars parked way back by the fence. That would explain how cars ordered long after mine are now floating their way towards Baltimore.
Would you perhaps be interested in swapping grill assemblies? I am getting the yellow insert version and would rather have the black insert one.
I don't believe there is a black "blade" available, although I think there should be. You get the Energetic Yellow blade or a blade that's the same gray color as the rest of the grille.
Agreed on both counts. I would like a black blade to match the black roof & mirror caps I ordered. I can't prove it, but I think you only get the yellow blade if you specified the Energetic Yellow mirror caps (excluding British Racing Green and Chili Red, of course).
I didn't realize the grill is grey vice black, but if the insert is also grey, that's actually perfect. As long as it's not yellow, I'm happy. My build sheet specifies black mirror caps. So if my SE arrives as postulated, I'm all set.
Not just any grey, but Vigorous Grey! Vigorous Grey grille and hatch trim, Moonwalk Grey body, and Satellite Grey seats--can one car have too many greys? Did I leave any out? It's a good thing you have the black mirror caps in writing.
Exterior is White Silver, with energetic yellow accents, carbon black interior and the wheels are 16" dark grey. The update today is that it has left the factory!
DISPATCHED FROM FACTORY was the last check-mark my MINI cleared and it did that more than a month ago. Please post as soon as your TRACK MY MINI graph clears the AT THE PORT check-mark. Thanks. Other MINIs manufactured after mine are on the boat to Baltimore, the US port destination for my MINI. Your MINI will test my last-in/first-out theory regarding the vehicle flow through giant parking lot at the port in Southampton (below is a stock photo I doctored).
Here's a fine how-do-you-do! My MINI saleslady just called. I hoped she was going to tell me the Track My MINI web page was broken and my car that left the factory in mid-June was actually at the port in Baltimore. Nope. It's still sitting at the port in Southampton, UK. No, what she called to tell me was that the MINI dealership within walking distance of my house is going out of business and MINI is buying it back as part of their dealer-reduction program. I was planning to walk to MINI of Ann Arbor to get my MINI Cooper SE last April, er, May, er, June, er, July, er, this August. Now, if MINI ever sees fit to ship my SE, I'll have to walk, er, drive 40 miles to get it from Motor City MINI in Southfield, MI. Will they next be telling me my MINI fell off the dock into the ocean when it was being loaded? It seems I'll be lucky to get my MINI Cooper SE in less than a year after I ordered it last October. I knew I should have ordered it last September! Oh, wait, the MINI Cooper SEs for some people who ordered them this year are ON the boat headed for Baltimore, just not mine. I wonder if Motor City MINI will charge me to put snow tires on my SE so I can get it home safely?
OMFG. I'm not especially superstitious, but I'd go with the comprehensive and a low deductible on that car.
My nightmare was my SE falling off the boat during the Atlantic crossing. Now I worry about hurricanes with mine sitting at Baltimore.
Fantastic news for you! At least some things are moving forward. But. Okay. wow. Time to call my sales rep. I ordered on July 2 and have heard nothing. I’m not super excited about my sales reps service so far. Would you mind if I asked what state you ordered from? What color did you order? Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I am sure they have assigned a production number for you. Email/Call the sales rep. I ordered in Illinois, signature trim, Chili Red color.
Egads! Living in the Midwest, I generally didn't have to worry about hurricanes. But now I will--a LOT.
https://insideevs.com/news/436682/mini-cooper-se-production-exceeded-11000-cumulatively/ You can at least have hope that the car gets delivered to you by early September while the rest of us agonizingly wait for the plant to reopen after the "summer shutdown". I wonder why these jack**** didn't use the corona virus shutdown for plant maintenance...
