I’m not gonna lie - that was very exciting. I just went and found my 2022 Mini where it is charging on the BMW dealer lot next to my Mini dealer. (Same property) It was at 79% charge and scheduled to finish at 10 PM. I was there at 7:30. Since I have not actually taken delivery, I will post some photos in this thread of my pollen-covered future Mini, and then after I actually buy it, I’ll post some better photos in the Delivery Stories thread.

EDIT: Bonnet stripes are back ordered; roof cross bars arriving Friday

    Some observations:
    1) The Nappa steering wheel - the “e” logo at the bottom of it - could not see it. The surface was completely black. So I guess it actually lights up? I didn’t realize that.

    2) The photos do not do the BRG color justice, for some reason. In person, the green is so much richer. I think cameras pick up more of the shine and less of the green. I am so pleased with the color.

    3) Loving the piano black trim. It looks like I got the Piano black interior surface, even though that was not what I ordered. Not a show stopper for me.

And here is the good stuff:

    Loving this!

By the way, do they not have a L2 charger? Adding the last 20% to take 2.5 hours? I thought L2 was like 4.5 hours to fill from ZERO.

Those look like pretty decent photos to me. You caught all the details I would have shot for this site had I been first. I may just end up posting a couple of glamor shots when I do. I am hoping for Sunday, but really not thinking it is at all likely. If the ship unloads overnight and the port processes it tomorrow, the car-carrier drives it up Thursday, then that gives the dealer Friday and Saturday.... yeah, maybe it can happen. I just don't know how long the port takes given that they do not have the antenna or bonnet stripes! What else would they do to the car?

The Chargepoint app shows that charger as J1772 6.6 kW. You would think the BMW dealer would have more juice on tap.

    Hmmm...that’s not a bad idea.

Maybe the dealer didn't set the charge rate to max in the car. I know my dealer knew nothing about those settings when I got my SE.

I’m going to confirm with my salesman early this coming week, but I believe the Piano Black trim package has two unlisted inside results - you end up with piano black “inside surface” and also a piano black trim piece on the lower part of the Nappa steering wheel, rather than the yellow “e” logo. My steering wheel is definitely Nappa, but there is no “e” logo in site. This does not bother me, but I hope that once the Mini build site is updated - these options will be spelled out more clearly.

That answers the question about whether the partial MINI E logo lights up or is just a decal. Because your Iconic SE comes with the fanciest steering wheel, if there was a lighted logo, your steering wheel would have it. It's now clear MINI applies the logo decal only to distract Signature and Signature Plus SE owners from their steering wheel's lesser-quality leather. There absolutely cannot be any other explanation. :)

So we did a little country drive this evening of about 55 miles. I used adaptive cruise control for much of that stretch, and it failed on me twice. It suddenly dropped out of cruise and a long message came up on the main display mentioning that cruise was unavailable and that the sensor was possibly blocked or dirty (I think that’s basically what it said - I was trying to drive!). The first time it happened I waited a few minutes and then pulled into a gas station (oh, the irony!!). I turned the car off and back on, and cruise worked immediately.

A few minutes later cruise dropped again with the same message, but I kept driving and after about a minute it re-enabled itself.

Tomorrow I’ll look up where the sensor is (I assume top center of windshield) and figure out if mine is obscured. Hopefully this will not be a common occurrence.

I've been wondering how MINI implemented ACC for the 2022 models. My old-fashioned 2021 SE can detect pedestrians, so I suppose it's possible to use the windshield camera to optically gauge the distance to the car ahead. Our Clarity Plug-In Hybrid's ACC uses a radar transceiver hidden behind the giant Honda "H" logo on the grille. I doubt you've had time to get your windshield dirty enough to interfere with the windshield camera. I hope the route back to your dealer isn't a boring one. Of course, the ACC will work perfectly for them.

I had a loaner MINI Countryman with adaptive cruise control a year or two ago, and that was exactly the experience I had, where it turns itself off easily. I wasn't impressed, I hope it works better for you.

That stinks about ACC. I hope it is just a sensor blocked, but I was under the impression it used the camera in the front to gauge distance and such. I'm not a cruise control user and simply forgot to test it on a loaner (software update and I had places to go) that had it. From what @Puppethead said, it might not be great anyway.

I'm enjoying the "English as a second language" Owner's Manual. I was looking at the cruise control section and came across this gem on page 175:

    "Switching Off -
To switch off the system while standing, step on brake petal at the same time".

Well, I don't really have room to stand up, but I guess I can give it a go!

A later paragraph clued me in on what they meant to say - it should have said "to switch off the system at a standstill". Still not great. I write tech doc - I would have written: "if the vehicle is stopped, press the brake pedal before pressing the cancel button".

Anyway, the sensor section states that the camera sensor (in front of the rear view mirror) can fail from glare effects from the sun, among other things. We were driving with the sun low in the sky toward the front left of the car, with lots of tree shadows going by. I am guessing that's what the problem was. I used ACC this morning with no issues.

Technically, "standing" has a specific meaning in traffic laws. It basically means that the car is still, typically in park, but still on with the driver inside. In many cities there are "no standing" ordinances because people will pause outside of a storefront while the passenger runs in. The car is then blocking traffic.

Can you switch to dumb cruise control if ACC is having issues due to sun?

Yes - apparently I can hold down one of the distance control buttons on the steering wheel to disable the system and use regular cruise - but I need to test this still.

I finally checked the contents of my hatch storage today:
    • Tire repair kit (compressor and fix a flat)
    • My factory regular antenna (I bought the shorty one)
    • The 120v A/C charging cable
On the 2021s, did the tire repair kit fit under the right hand storage hatch correctly? Mine will go in that hole, but the lid does not quite go flat.

Nope. Mine is in a case with velcro to grab onto the lower storage panel to stay in place. It's too tall for the cubby underneath.

Your stuff looks exactly the same as what I got in my 2021 SE.
