Comparing a phev Clarity to a Tesla is not realistic. Tesla is great until you get on a long road trip and have to stop for 30 minutes every 150 to 200 miles to charge, or you go where there are no charge stations. Some people travel into mexico. Also the model x with ludicrous speed is up to160k $ or more. So thier is little comparison. For many people 160k is out of reach for a house, much less a car. Cars are rapid depreciating consumable items. More like an evil necessaty. So if i was a millioniare i would be reluctant to put that much money in a car. To me tesla is well intentioned but not practical yet. Even though when i did see a model x up close the technology and overall features of the car were more than amazing.

The Model 3 shows promise but it's still too expensive for me. However, there is obviously a market for them due to the demand, backlog, and the fact they can't build them fast enough -- so if they make money off of them, that's a good thing. Eventually other manufacturers will want a piece of that pie, work to put out something better at less cost, more people will buy once it gets to their magic price point, they'll enter the market and hence more demand and then even more competition.

    Capitalism is a wonderful thing!
